If You're After Easy, Natural-Looking Makeup, You Need to Know About This Brand
As a beauty editor, I am very often asked what my favourite makeup brand of all time is. In the past, I've often leaned towards answering this question with classic options such as Dior, Chanel, Nars, Hourglass, L'Oréal Paris and the like. However, in recent years, I've realised that while those brands are some of my most coveted, there is actually only one makeup brand I use every single day—and that's Westman Atelier.
Created by one of the most iconic makeup artists of our time, Gucci Westman, the brand creates high-end, luxury makeup products designed specifically for those who champion a fuss-free, fool-proof makeup look—basically, me. Westman has painted the faces of almost every celebrity you can think of, including Emily Ratajkowski, Penélope Cruz, Jennifer Aniston and Anne Hathaway, so it makes sense that she knows the exact criteria for a perfect makeup product.
The formulas themselves are creamy, melty and almost impossibly easy to work with. The packaging is next-level luxurious and weighty and just makes sense. In essence, Westman Atelier products are, what I like to call, finger-makeup products. They're swipe-them-on-and-go sorts of things. The most iconic products in the line-up, Baby Cheeks Blush, Vital Skin Foundation and Lit Up Highlight, are all in stick format with formulas so creamy they just take a few dabs with your fingers to totally fuse with skin.
And I'm not alone in my love for Westman Atelier's luxury products. I recently asked a bunch of beauty-editor pals whether I'm the only person who thinks every product Gucci Westman touches turns to gold, and they agreed I am not. In fact, every single one of us had praises to sing for Westman Atelier. Beauty editor at Elle UK Jennifer George told me that Baby Cheeks is the only blusher she's ever finished, while one of my best buds told me she's dreading the day her beloved Squeaky Clean Liquid Lip Balm runs dry.
If you're asking me, Westman Atelier products are nothing short of perfection. They allow me to execute a whole face of fresh, natural-looking makeup in a matter of minutes. As someone who has next to no makeup skills, I can count on them to make the act of applying makeup a breeze. Are they eye-wateringly expensive? Yes. However, I stand by the fact that if I weren't in the job I'm in, my entire makeup collection would consist of perhaps five Westman Atelier products and only a couple of others. And they last ages, by the way. If you share my love for easy-to-use makeup products that deliver natural-looking results, keep scrolling for the 13 best Westman Atelier products.
1. Westman Atelier Baby Cheeks Blush Stick
Possibly the most loved Westman Atelier product out there, Baby Cheeks Blush Stick is easily the best blusher I have ever tried. I know at least five other beauty editors who agree with me. It's watercolour-like in finish, it's sumptuously creamy, and it leaves cheeks looking glowing without relying on shimmer. Whenever I can't be bothered to apply a full face of makeup, I'll dab a little bit of Baby Cheeks onto the apples of my cheeks and feel instantly better about myself.
2. Westman Atelier Face Trace Contour Stick
I am not a contour person. As someone who wants a full face in less than five minutes, I find contouring a fussy, non-essential step. It's also a step that I really struggle to get right—I almost always end up looking muddy. Having said that, whenever I have a big night planned and have more than a few minutes to spend on my makeup, I have been known to dabble in a little contour. In such situations, I have found this creamy contour stick to be my favourite to use. Simply swipe into the hollows of the cheeks, dab onto temples, and glide around the hairline for a suitably natural-looking contour.
3. Westman Atelier Lit Up Highlight Stick
Available in a few shades, this highlight is nothing short of divine. It has a noticeable shimmer, but unlike so many highlighters out there, it doesn't contain chunky pieces of glitter that stand out on the skin. Instead, it just glistens when it hits the light, delivering beautifully subtle radiance.
4. Westman Atelier Vital Skin Foundation Stick
Foundation sticks are so not my bag. As someone who likes the look of bare skin, I find foundation sticks to deliver too much coverage for my liking. However, this product is different. With a light-to-medium coverage, the creamy formula melts into skin with unparalleled seamlessness. Containing nourishing skincare ingredients, such as plumping squalane and an array of nourishing oils, it has a beautiful skin-like finish.
5. Westman Atelier Eye Love You Mascara
Of all of the Westman Atelier products, I'll admit this is the one I'm most torn over. The packaging is flawless—beautifully heavy and luxurious (granted, this weight doesn't make any of the Westman Atelier products great for travelling). The fibre brush is oversized and wonderfully volumising, delivering full, fanned-out lashes. My only gripe? It isn't ideal for oily skinned people, like me, who often find their mascara to smudge underneath their eyes.
6. Westman Atelier Squeaky Clean Liquid Lip Balm
When this product first launched, I was sent every shade. For Christmas, I gave each of my friends a shade. Every single one of them repurchased it once it was finished. The buttery, nourishing formula is less of a balm and more of a hydrating sheen. Believe me when I say you won't find any lip product as comfortable and delightful as this out there. Also, don't be too scared of the shades. They all sheer out into a beautiful tint.
7. Westman Atelier Vital Skincare Complexion Drops
The latest launch from Westman Atelier, these complexion drops sit somewhere between a skin tint and a foundation. Jam-packed with soothing oils (that don't clog pores, FYI), they deliver a skin-blurring sheen to the skin that radiates glowing vitality. If you have oily skin, be prepared to powder afterwards. However, if your skin sits towards the drier end of the spectrum, I guarantee you'll love them as an everyday base.
8. Westman Atelier Vital Pressed Skincare Powder
I don't consider myself to be a big fan of powder. I like my skin to look dewy and glowing as opposed to matte. I have typically found face powders to be dulling, mattifying and flattening. This stuff, however, is far from any of those things. It takes down oily shine with ease but somehow doesn't seem to compromise glow while it's at it. If you are in the market for a natural-looking powder, this is it.
9. Westman Atelier Eye Pod
I'll admit when I first received these eye shadows, I was a bit shocked. For a brand that champions simple, easy-to-use products, I thought single eye shadows didn't quite fit. I was, however, wrong. These pods work so beautifully on their own that all you need to do is smoosh in your finger and swipe the buttery powder over your lids for a beautiful eye look.
10. Westman Atelier Super Loaded Tinted Highlight
This highlight might look like a beautifully shimmering powder, but it is, in fact, a cream—and a stunning one at that. Whenever I wear this pinky-hued highlight on the tops of my cheekbones, someone comments on how great my skin looks. And that, for me, is the ultimate makeup compliment.
11. Westman Atelier Lip Suede
Do you need this product? Absolutely not. Have I found it a joy to use and surprisingly handy? Yes. It contains four wonderfully wearable lip shades, and whenever I go away, I pack this compact to cover all possible lip bases. The formula is innovative and brilliant—powder-like but with a suede-effect finish that still plumps and nourishes lips. Just run your finger over one shade (or mix and match for something custom) and dab onto lips for easy, on-the-go application.
12. Westman Atelier Beauty Butter Powder Bronzer
Considering Westman Atelier mostly focuses on cream-based products, I'll admit I thought a powder bronzer seemed like an odd move. However, this particular formula is so buttery and melty that you'd struggle to believe it's a powder once it hits the skin. Delivering a fresh-looking, sun-kissed bronze, it's one in a million.
13. Westman Atelier Bonne Brow Defining Pencil
The point on this brow pencil makes drawing in brow-like hairs a walk in the park, and the spoolie on the other end is particularly handy. Personally, I would have liked to see the spoolie section contain a setting brow gel—but, hey, a girl can dream.
Next up, Hailey Bieber's makeup artist just schooled me on how to get fresh, glowing skin.
