We Just Launched an Affordable Skincare Brand That Actually Works
Ah, skincare. We love you, we really do, but wow, you’re a confusing thing, aren’t you? From cleansers and serums to exfoliators and moisturisers, sussing out exactly what your skin needs and when truly is a fine art. With thousands of different products out there, it takes research and dedication to navigate the minefield that is skincare.
Luckily, there’s a new kid on the skincare block, and if we do say so ourselves, we think it’s really worth shouting about. Having already launched in the U.S. last year, Versed is the new skincare brand, created by the Who What Wear team on the other side of the pond, that works to make skincare a little easier to understand.
So what exactly is Versed? Essentially, it’s a clean skincare line consisting of 17 products that really focus on results. Everything is sustainable, vegan, cruelty-free and formulated without fragrances, dyes, parabens, silicones or sulphates. On top of that, the products are broken down into super-easy-to-understand categories for different skin types (ageing, dull, problem, etc.). Plus, if you’re really not sure where to start, there’s even an online skin decoder so that you can find which products might be best for you.
What really stands out, however, is just how impressive the ingredient lists are. They're formulated with proven, efficacious ingredients at a level that means they genuinely work, so you can expect results fast. Oh, and did I mention every single product is under £20?

Cleansers
"Finding a cleanser that satisfies my every cleansing need often proves quite the task. In fact, I’d say cleansers are definitely the area in which I’m hardest to please when it comes to beauty products. I want something that offers a deep clean, removes all of my makeup in one go and offers my skin some form of hydration without leaving a film. Is that really so much to ask? Apparently not if this stuff is anything to go by. Usually, I wouldn’t gravitate toward a gel cleanser, as I find they can sometimes be drying, but this refreshing cleanser gave everything I asked of it and then some.” — Shannon Lawlor, freelance beauty editor
"When it comes to cleanser, I am very loyal to my Elemis cleansing balm. It’s what I have used since I was 21. I was really impressed by this cleansing balm. The consistency is on the oilier side, which leaves a lovely glowy effect on the skin when removed with a cloth. I am all for beauty products that give me a spa feeling in the morning, and this did just that.” — Emma Spedding, editor
Serums
"I really suffer from congested pores thanks to my oily skin. However, when it comes to tackling the situation with products, I’m often stumped as my skin is also super sensitive. Ingredients that work to decongest pores are usually quite heavy-hitting and leave me red-faced and sore. However, this serum appears to be doing the job. I certainly don’t experience any irritation (thanks to calming zinc), and my skin is loving the anti-inflammatory properties of the niacinamide.” — Lawlor
"When I first heard about this serum, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. I’m a huge believer that skin needs its daily dose of both resveratrol and peptides to keep the skin barrier healthy. This serum hasn’t let me down. It’s the ultimate twice-daily drink that my skin requires to stay happy and plump.” — Lawlor
"As someone who is chronically sleep-deprived (I have a toddler), vitamin C is often my friend, as it helps to brighten my usually dull complexion. This serum takes a few days to work, but persevere and it will give you a gentle glow. I'd advise using a very thin moisturiser over the top or none at all.” — Elinor Block, assistant editor
Moisturisers
"I’m sure I’m not the only person who feels like this, but the current weather is certainly not compatible with my skin. Right now, it’s dry, dull and could definitely use some increased moisture. Thankfully, Versed’s Skin Soak Rich Moisture Cream did just the trick to add some life back into my face. It feels like luxury skincare, just without the luxury price tag.” — Zoe Anastasiou, fashion editor
"One of Versed's award-winning creations, the Dew Point gel-cream moisturiser sells itself as a ‘lightweight gel-cream formula with a jelly-like texture,’ and as someone who breaks out at the sight of anything rich, I found this to be a winner. I applied it over my vitamin C serum, before my SPF, and it absorbed super quickly, but it still felt like it gave my skin the moisture it needed. The perfect year-round multitasker." — Joy Montgomery, shopping editor
Boosters
"I’ve only used a vitamin C powder once before and was really pleased with the results, but it was too expensive to become a part of my actual skincare routine. This was really easy to use, as you put one to two shakes into your usual moisturiser or serum. I preferred to use it in the morning because I found the slight tingling and brightening effect a welcome addition to my grey January morning skin.” — Spedding
"What I liked most about the Versed products I tried is that you can mix them into your existing favourite products. I have dry skin so this hyaluronic acid is a welcome addition to my routine. You can either apply a few drops to your serums and moisturisers or wear this alone in between steps. It also soaked in nicely to my skin, rather than pilling, which I often find when I wear too many extra products.” — Spedding
Treatments
"Ask my sister, and she will tell you I’m a complete beauty rookie. I often say hydrochloric acid when I actually mean hyaluronic acid, and I’ve been known to mix up the order of my skincare routine on more than one occasion. But that is the beauty of Versed skincare. Its straight-forward, no-fuss instructions make even those of us with minimal understanding of skincare feel like complete experts.
"Trialling the Overnight Facial Peel also made me feel like somewhat of a skincare expert, as it allowed me to wake up with enviably smooth skin—which honestly is a first for me. After one use, I felt like my skin had more even tone and smoother texture. I’m now an avid fan of skincare that works while you sleep and know I’ll use this beauty shortcut again.” — Anastasiou
"If there’s one beauty product I love above the rest, it’s a good body treatment. While I usually try to steer clear of body oils in the winter and instead opt for thick, more nourishing creams, this lightweight oil gave all of my skin the hydration it needed without feeling greasy. Plus, the spray bottle makes it super easy to apply with minimal mess.” — Lawlor
"With a mix of rosemary and tea tree oil, Versed’s Nix It Complexion Solution is the perfect remedy for any unexpected breakouts. As the packaging instructs, simply dab at the first sign of any unwanted visitors.” — Anastasiou
Masks
"Clay masks are usually not my thing. Although I love the way my skin looks straight after (small pores and glowing), in the long run, my skin is usually left dehydrated and crying out for some intense moisture. I approached this mask with caution for those very reasons, but honestly, I was blown away by the results. In fact, I think I even let out a little gasp when I rinsed it off. Sure, my skin looked brighter and smoother, but it also felt hydrated and healthy with absolutely zero dryness.” — Lawlor
"I love my skin feeling really clean, and this mask ticks the box when it comes to making that happen. Put on clean skin for roughly 15 minutes, and then take it off (once dried) and reveal healthy skin that feels fresh and not dehydrated.” — Block
"I am a bit of an eye cream fanatic and have been experimenting with various brands for years. However, I have never come across one that acts like a face mask for the under-eye area as this one does. At first, I wasn't sure of the concept, but when I applied the light gel to my bag-laden eyes on a Monday morning, I instantly noticed the puffiness decreasing. After 10 minutes, I lightly removed with a tissue and was impressed with how awake my eyes looked. Such a treat when you've skipped on your eight hours of shut-eye." — Montgomery
Next up, these cult face masks are the reason celebrities always look so glowy.
