This Is 2022's Answer to the Throw-On Dress

The throw-on-dress has been popular for a few years now, mainly because we all got used to the joys of a comfy outfit. While putting on a cami dress or zipping into a more body-con style has its perks, the T-shirt-dress trend that's sticking around is as stylish as it is wearable for everyday.

While the idea of a T-shirt dress might sound a little childish (I certainly thought so at first), the new iteration feels unexpectedly refined, perhaps due to the fact that premium brands such as The Row have been embracing similarly oversized silhouettes with lo-fi cotton and jersey fabrics. On the high street, meanwhile, it's been COS leading the charge with its heavyweight T-shirt dresses that skim the body and offer a distinctively clean-lined finish.

You can of course embrace classically minimalist monochromes and neutrals, but there's something very 2022 about the pops of colour that we're seeing right now. Think Barbie pink, soft sage and pea green. They essentially offer a fun alternative to the classic statement prints that proliferate in the warmer months. It's extroverted dressing for minimalists. Just add Birkenstocks and gold hoops, and you're good to go. So if you loved last year's throw-on-dress trend, scroll down to see and shop the comfy T-shirt dresses that I'm loving right now.
