The Only 5 Swimwear Launches We Care About in 2019

Now that the temps have started their seasonal ascent, all we really want to talk about is swimwear. While we've already spilled a lot of ink on the topic—from the swimsuit trends Italian girls can't stop wearing to the controversial color trend we can't get enough of to the bikini trend that's suddenly dying—a crucial piece of content was glaringly absent from our recent coverage until today: the swimwear launches we here at Who What Wear HQ are most excited about.

While we aren't prone to playing favorites, these debut collections are just too good to not call out. Spanning a foray into the category from one of this year's must-watch Colombian designers to a premier swimsuit line from one of our favorite handbag labels that's tantalizingly described as "an ode to tropical surrealism," these are without a doubt the best swimwear launches of 2019. Whether you prefer fashion-forward bikinis or practical one-pieces, these collections have you covered. So, about that beach vacation…

Cult Gaia

It was only a matter of time before Cult Gaia, the brand behind the now-iconic bamboo bag that was practically made for summer, launched its own swim line. The label's first-ever swimwear collection, a collab with Brazilian designer Adriana Degreas, is "an ode to tropical surrealism," boasting bold colors and beautifully unexpected elements like cutouts, beads, and plissé details.

Self-Portrait

The brand that's known for its pretty cocktail dresses and structured trousers is finally bringing its affinity for romantic prints and flattering silhouettes to the swimwear scene—and, honestly, we want it all. Mark our words: You're going to see Self-Portrait's debut swim collection all over your Instagram feed this summer.

Denizeri

From Istanbul-raised, Parsons-educated designer Melisa Denizeri comes a line of sporty, practical, and, dare we say, utilitarian bathing suits that are a marked departure from the fashion-forward swim trends currently dominating this season. And we're into it. Think square-neck tops, high-waisted bottoms, and halter-neck one-pieces.

Silvia Tcherassi

The sought-after Colombian designer's debut swimwear line is arguably the most anticipated launch of the summer with styles already selling out on Moda Operandi. As expected, Silvia Tcherassi's foray into the category is bold, colorful, and playfully over-the-top—just like the tropical-print dresses and puff-sleeve blouses her eponymous label has come to be known for.

G. Label

On the other end of the spectrum, Goop's G. Label swimwear is all clean lines and classic silhouettes. The brand's premier bathing suit collection took inspiration from '90s minimalism, creating swimwear that looks ripped straight off Kate Moss, Cindy Crawford, and, of course, Gwyneth Paltrow circa 1995. In other words, we're adding everything to our cart.
