I've always liked to have a look at my horoscope, but I never really took much notice of it. (The fact that I'm a classic Capricorn who works too much is not exactly news to me.) But 18 months ago, when our lives became completely unpredictable, and the world turned upside down, I found myself engrossed in horoscopes to such an extent that I've now got an app that delivers my birth-time-specific horoscope every day. No, I don't have a problem, but do feel free to psychoanalyse me and my behaviour. I would like to point out, though, that I'm not the only one who's into horoscopes these days. Earlier this year, the BBC reported a boom in the number of people who have taken an interest in astrology.
This obsession with star signs has translated to fashion. Global shopping platform Lyst revealed that month after month, "demand for zodiac jewellery is up 29%, with necklaces being the most popular." Google searches for zodiac jewellery have also shot up, according to Google Trends. And everywhere I look online, from luxury jewellers to more affordable jewellery lines, I've seen an abundance of zodiac-inspired star-sign necklaces.
