I Asked Fashion Editors for Their Spring Staples, and They're All From Nordstrom
I may be biased, but when it comes to executing capsule-wardrobe dressing and recommending quality staples, there is no one I trust more than the Who What Wear team. And it comes as no surprise that Nordstrom is their go-to for these hero pieces. We're always finding the "trending basics" that are as timeless as they are trend-forward.
I've asked seven fellow editors to give me their holy-grail piece for the spring season, and they didn't disappoint. Find their top picks below along with additional shopping to freshen your basics drawer.

Strappy Black Heels
"Strappy heels aren't anything new, but for spring, I'm gravitating toward The Row's latest version that has a caged T-bar silhouette, which feels like a modern spin on floss heels."

'80s Jeans
"If you catch me in the springtime not wearing a pair of jeans and either a T-shirt and jacket, a blouse, or a sweater of some sort, consider it a rarity. And while I have far too many pairs in my closet, I always keep one particular style folded up within reach so that I can slip them on whenever I have to head out the door or simply don't know what else to wear. That pair, for me, is always going to be from Levi's. Though the ones pictured here are vintage 501s, I'm loving this '80 Mom Jeans style from the brand. After looking through Saint Laurent's '80s-inspired F/W 23 show one too many times, I'm convinced the era is back."

Slip Dress
"I've been so obsessed with this pale-pink slip dress recently. I'm not usually one to wear pink, but I think that's officially changing. The styling options are endless. I've been using it as a long skirt or throwing it on over tops with cool statement sleeves."

Tank Top
"Tank tops are on heavy rotation in my wardrobe in spring—the perfect layering piece under cardis, knits, and lightweight jackets. This relaxed U-neck tank from Topshop is one of my favorites. The neckline is super flattering, and it has an effortless fit. I wear it with everything."

Leather Belt
"If you ask me, a basic—some might even say "boring"—leather belt is the key to all my coolest outfits right now. I'm relying on them to quickly pull together even the simplest of outfits, like a bodysuit and trousers, but I've also been playing around with more experimental combinations, like double-belting my jeans, for a more forward take. The recent runways have been putting the humble accessory front and center in spring's key looks. Just refer to Khaite, whose sculptural-clasp Julius belt is already a seasonal cult favorite."

Light-Colored Blazer
"For warm-weather workwear, I swap my black and gray blazers out for lighter hues that feel more springy. Camel, beige, and light browns are my choice tones."

White Sneakers
"If you know me, you know I live in white sneakers all spring. Since the newfound heat brings along a change in my wardrobe with spring dresses and maxi skirts, my classic white Adidas Stan Smiths are heavy in my fashion rotation. They go with nearly every outfit I own, so I always keep them by the door to slip into if I'm running late to meet up with friends or heading downtown for an event. (Yes, I've even worn them to New York Fashion Week.) If you're not convinced yet, may I remind you that they've been designer Phoebe Philo's shoes of choice throughout her career? Simply, you can't go wrong."

Longline Denim Skirt
"These days, I rarely leave the house without a denim maxi skirt. Something about this update on a classic wardrobe staple makes every outfit I wear look so 2023. I'll be buying it in many more iterations this spring."
