The 3 Best Shoes to Wear With Skinny Jeans

When she’s not working with big names like Lupita Nyong’o, Jennifer Hudson, and Hilary Swank, celebrity stylist Micaela Erlanger also divulges her fashion expertise in our Ask a Stylist column. From the best places to source vintage to the secret to finding your most flattering jeans, come back each week for a professional’s perspective.
As I’ve pointed out before, skinny jeans are a must-have for everyone’s wardrobe. I consider them to be a true staple. I’ve already shared the number one place to buy the flattering denim style (hint: It’s a mall brand), so today I’m slightly shifting gears and focusing on the shoes to wear with your favorite skinny jeans.
The three shoe styles I always recommend to my clients are pointed-toe heels (for office and evening), over-the-knee boots (for casual events), and mules (for everything in between). To ensure you’re set with the best shoe options to wear with your skinny jeans this year, I’ve shopped out my top options for each shoe style below.
Over-the-Knee Boots
Skinny jeans are the ideal denim style to wear with over-the-knee boots—they tuck into the shoes easily and without bunching. Wear them for casual events or to dress up jeans for a night out.
Mules
Good news—your favorite jean style pairs impeccably well with the shoe style we know you’ve stocked up on. Mules are the perfect in-between shoes, so whether you’re sliding your feet into a pair of block heels or stilettos, rest assured that they’ll make for a stylish duo with your skinny jeans.
Pointed-Toe Heels
Shopping for a pair with a pointed toe is key. The shoes will elongate the look of your legs when worn with skinny jeans (especially a high-waisted pair).
