I Tried On 20+ Blazers—These 7 Are Actually Worth Buying
There's nothing like a blazer to make you feel instantly polished and pulled-together. Even the most understated outfits (heck, even your pajamas) will look more elevated when you throw one over your shoulders. Fall happens to be the perfect time to update your trusty staple. It'll add a chic touch to your new-season work outfits and look sharp over jeans and tees, transitioning you seamlessly from day to night in style.
Ahead of the cold weather fully settling in, I wanted to stop at all of our editors' favorite stores to try on the best blazers, from internet-beloved direct-to-consumer brands to massive retail darlings. If you've ever seen a blazer online and thought to yourself, "I wonder how this one holds up IRL," I made the trek around Manhattan to try them on for you.
Scroll below for the intel on the best blazers I found after trying on over 20 within the span of three days. Trust me—the finds will shock you.
The Frankie Shop Bea Blazer
Of course, this blazer makes the list at number one. I can't play favorites, but if I had to pick one, it would be The Frankie Shop's Bea Blazer. It's not as oversize as the brand's classic Boyfriend Blazer, and a lettered size range means you can find a fit that's perfect for you rather than the standard one-size-fits-most model that The Frankie Shop's Boyfriend Blazer goes by. The extra button on the jacket feels a bit more elevated too.
Babaton Standout Blazer
Although I'm partial to oversize blazers for most of my fashion needs, Aritzia's Standout Blazer floored me when I tried it on, and I didn't have any problems stepping out of the fitting room to gaze at myself in the scary communal mirrors everyone on TikTok complains about! The shape of this blazer hugs your waist and emphasizes the smallest point, which, for me, is always a plus. I love the look of broad, boxy shoulders in a jacket paired with a slim-fitting pencil skirt or trousers.
Djerf Avenue Forever Blazer
Djerf Avenue's Forever Blazer might be the best-selling blazer on the internet. The brand, headed by Swedish influencer and It girl Matilda Djerf, has become massively mainstream thanks to its incredible line of well-made basics. Of course, the Forever Blazer is a top seller. I already have two of them in my daily rotation—classic black and the Oat version. The size range is also one of the best on this list, and the largest size, a 3XL, fits people up to a US 24 thanks to its oversize fit.
Open Edit Relaxed Fit Blazer
The number of times I've written about this blazer has to be in the hundreds, so when I took it for a spin at Nordstrom's NYC flagship store over the weekend, I fell in love. It's slouchy without making me feel like I'm drowning in extra fabric. The sleeves are easy to scrunch up (obsessed!), and the color range is expansive. Say goodbye to cream- and nude-colored jackets only—it even comes in red!
Madewell The Kline Blazer
I'm a fan of anything Madewell puts out, but I rarely venture into the brand's outerwear world since I focus so heavily on its jeans and accessories. After I tried on the brand's Kline Blazer, though, everything changed. It comes in a standard size and a plus size, meaning it's more accessible than other major brands offering a similar silhouette. While there's a classic black version, I've fallen in love with the brand's suede offering of the Kline Blazer and knew I had to add it to my wardrobe. This find has a nice structure and weight to it, making it feel a bit more luxe compared to similar jackets in this price range.
H&M Loose-Fit Blazer
The jacket, by far, has the best bang for your buck. I'm no stranger to finding a good deal on an everyday basic, so after seeing this jacket was on sale, I ran to H&M to give you my first impressions. It's good—like, really good. Like most mid-tier designer blazers, this H&M pick offers a baggy silhouette and a single streamlined button. The shoulder pads are droopy, and the vibes are high with this one. I low-key could see an It girl wearing it out in the rain in lieu of a bulky raincoat or over a workout set as she heads to her favorite studio, Tera Pilates in New York. I'm into it!
Anine Bing Quinn Blazer
Last but not least, the Anine Bing Quinn Blazer closes out our list. It's a favorite among Who What Wear editors, so it's no surprise it landed within my top seven. Much like The Frankie Shop's blazer, this Anine Bing piece has a cult following due to its universally flattering fit and the slew of colors and materials it's available in—all points I love. It hits much higher at the hips than similarly oversize blazers, so if you're on the shorter side, this one would be the perfect find for you.
