Every Solid 2023 Outfit Starts With These Trendy Basics
If you’re looking for a few new outfit formulas to mix into your rotation, you’ve landed in the perfect spot. Below, I’m sharing a range of stylish ensembles to consider. While each look is unique in its own right, there is a common thread to note: Yep, each outfit features a trendy basic.
Given that basics act as the foundational elements in a solid look, it probably doesn’t come as much of a shock that some of my favorite recent outfit ideas start with next-level basics. For reference, the basics in question fall in that "trendy” category because they’re highly versatile like a tried-and-true basic, but also have a forward element to make them especially modern.
Keep scrolling to check out 2023 outfit ideas that feature a trendy basic as the hero piece.
Relaxed Striped Knit
A striped sweater is a go-to basic for many. As the fashion crowd embraced in 2022 and will continue this year, it’s the relaxed styles that will be the hero piece in many standout looks.
Shearling-Accented Coat
In the outerwear realm, shearling coats reign supreme as the chic topper of choice to toss over any look.
Pinstripe Trousers
Wide-leg trousers are a key staple, and for 2023, it’s the pinstripe silhouettes that will make the rounds in many favorite looks.
Denim Skirt
There’s something so effortlessly cool about a longer denim skirt. As this ensemble showcases, it pairs flawlessly with a white tee.
Oversize Shirt
I couldn’t round out this list without including one of my favorite trendy basics: the oversize white shirt. It’s still one of the chicest pieces to elevate a look.
Puddle Jeans
Relaxed jeans will continue to have their moment this year—especially of the "puddle variety" that pool around the ankles.
