As I write this, it's the first day of October. New York is experiencing a rare 65-degree "not too hot, not too cold" day, meaning that I can finally break out all the beloved fall sweaters; thick, non-stretch jeans; and leather, waxed cotton, and wool jackets and blazers I've been storing since March. I'm feeling uncharacteristically excited about summer ending, and to take advantage of the fleeting feeling, only one thing came to mind. That is spending an entire evening scrolling through fall arrivals at Nordstrom, an activity I've partaken in every fall for as long as I can remember.

I like to pretend that the normal shopping rules don't apply during this short-lived period. I can invest in my fall wardrobe all I want without guilt. After all, everything's new and mostly practical, making whatever I buy entirely regret-proof. This year's haul, which includes everything from $70 slingbacks to my $3400 Saint Laurent dream bag, is my least regrettable to date. There's also cashmere, denim, and outerwear, all of which can be styled for any occasion and worn in multiple ways. See? No need for fashion shame here. Scroll down to see the best new fall Nordstrom items I discovered after hours of hunting.
