I'm a Beauty Editor—These Moisturizers Deliver Seriously Glowy Skin
Nailing the perfect natural-looking glow is an achievement. Trust me. I’ve been trying to suss it out for years. It seems some people are just born with a radiant complexion that oozes luminosity and health. To replicate this glow, I have tried virtually every single highlighting makeup product under the sun, but I have yet to find a formula that doesn’t give the game away somehow. Whether it’s chunky bits of glitter or my lack of ability to apply it to the most natural-looking places, I have been forced to admit defeat when it comes to highlighter.
So with highlighters out of the question, I have had to think outside the box to up my glow game. From primers to serums and cleansers to foundations, I have searched high and low for any product that can deliver a glowing radiance that might trick people into thinking it’s actually real. And finally, after many years of searching, I can say that I have found exactly what I have been looking for.
While glow-promising cleansers only seemed to cause breakouts and illuminating foundations left me looking sweaty after just a few minutes, one product has really proved its glow-giving abilities in a way no other has been able to. A new kind of moisturizer has found its way into my routine.
What I call "glowing moisturizers” are predominantly skincare products with radiance-boosting properties. For example, some might be slightly tinted, while others contain light-reflecting particles. You simply slap them on as part of or after your skincare routine, leave skin bare, or apply makeup over the top, and you’ll be glowing all day long with absolutely zero fuss. Don’t believe me? Keep scrolling for the glow-inducing moisturizers that guarantee effortless luminosity all day long.
1. Honey Halo Ultra-Hydrating Ceramide Moisturizer
If you're already acquainted with Farmacy Beauty, you'll know that they offer effective science-based skincare solutions formulated from response, farm-sourced ingredients. Their TikTok viral, clinically-tested moisturizer is a standout on its own. It helps repair and protect the skin barrier with antioxidant-rich buckwheat honey, fig extract, and a potent ceramide blend to boost your skin's elasticity and radiance.
2. Stella McCartney Beauty Restore Cream
I've been seriously impressed with Stella McCartney's Restore Cream, which hydrates the skin with hyaluronic acid, while organic birch sap (rich in vitamin C) and cherry blossom extract help to brighten and give your skin that sought-after glow. Stella McCartney's skincare is also refillable, making it kinder to the environment.
3. Tatcha The Dewy Skin Cream Plumping & Hydrating Moisturizer
We're all for moisturizers that provide an instant glow, but this one also helps to give your skin that long-term glow. Pioneered with a blend of Japanese purple rice and Okinawa algae extract, these ingredients help to soothe inflammation, while hyaluronic acid and botanical extracts work in tandem to brighten and hydrate your skin from within.
4. Elemis Superfood Glow Priming Moisturizer
Formulated with kombucha and fermented ginger to boost radiance, this priming moisturizer is one of the glowiest I have come across. Plus, my breakout-prone skin has absolutely no trouble with it. Thanks to its light-reflecting minerals, I get compliments on how healthy my complexion looks whenever I use it.
5. Origins Ginzing Glow Radiance-Boosting Gel Moisturizer
This lightweight gel moisturizer is impossibly refreshing on the skin, so it breathes a bit of glowing life into lackluster complexions straight away. On top of that, it also has a golden, pearly sheen that radiates health and vitality.
6. Ole Henriksen C-Rush Brightening Gel Crème
The Ole Henriksen C-Rush cream is one of my favorite moisturizers. For those who have normal skin, I highly recommend this radiance-boosting formula. The gel-cream texture is lightweight and refreshing but also has a very sheer peachy color (it doesn't have any pigment; it's just the natural color of the cream) that livens up any complexion.
7. Glossier Futuredew
For no-makeup days, this stuff has become my reach-for. It's jam-packed with oils and fruit extracts for optimum nourishment but doesn't leave a sticky or greasy residue. If you're into a super-glossy finish, nothing compares.
8. Tata Harper Illuminating Moisturizer
It's a little pricey, I know, but if you ask me, it's also one of the best illuminating products around. With powerhouse hydrators such as hyaluronic acid alongside shea and mango-seed butter, it's a wonderful moisturiser on its own merit. However, it also contains diamond dust to give the most beautifully blurring (and radiant) sheen.
9. The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow-Boosting Moisturizer
Newly reformulated but from a lifelong-favorite range, this glowing moisturizer champions vitamin C and has glow-giving antioxidant properties. The light, gel-like texture is also wonderfully cooling and invigorating.
10. Decléor Green Mandarin Sun-Kissed Cream
This stuff is seriously rich. Full of essential oils and hyaluronic acid, it offers up next-level moisture. Because of this, I wouldn't suggest it as an everyday option. However, its radiance-boosting, glow-giving properties are, if you ask me, totally unrivaled. It has an orange tint to it that works to color-correct and leaves behind the most convincing sun-kissed effect. If you're after instant results, this one is for you.
11. Guerlain Abeille Royale Bee Glow Youth Moisturizer
This ever-so-slightly iridescent formula is basically dewy, healthy-looking skin in a bottle. When applied after serum, it gives skin almost a wet-look finish, but it doesn't look oily or sweaty, either. It just veils the skin in youthful radiance.
12. It Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream Anti-Aging Hydrating Moisturizer
Confidence in a Cream has long been my go-to whenever my skin looks really dry. I recently discovered this version. Still containing all of the super-hydrating ingredients like squalane and iris root, it also has 2x more-potent active ingredients that work to reverse 10 visible signs of aging in two weeks.
13. Erborian Glow Crème Illuminating Face Cream
Sitting somewhere between skincare and a makeup product, this stuff is a really worthwhile add-on. If you don't like the dewy finish that often comes with illuminating moisturizers, listen up. It contains vitamin E and squalane for a super-hydrating punch, but it also has a pearly finish that works to reflect light and boost luminosity. Plus, it's soft and more matte than many others on the list.
14. Kora Organics Turmeric Glow Moisturizer
Another rich formula with essential fatty acids, rose-hip oil, and antioxidant maracuja oil, this stuff means business. Ideal for dry skin, it also has a yellow tint (thanks to turmeric) that doesn't just deliver an out-of-this-world glow but also helps even out areas of hyperpigmentation.
15. Bobbi Brown Extra Illuminating Balm
Sitting somewhere between a rich moisturizer and a primer, this perfecting balm is ideal for days when you don't want to apply a full base. Reflective pearls illuminate while lychee extract revitalizes.
16. Victoria Beckham Beauty by Augustinus Bader Golden Cell Rejuvenating Priming Moisturizer
I've obsessed over this glow-giving moisturizer before. It's one of the most radiance-boosting skincare products I own. To put it bluntly, this is probably the one $145 skincare product I genuinely believe I would consider parting with the cash for.
17. Beauty Pie Pure Oxygen Radiant Glow Moisture Infusion
Price is shown in members' price.
This moisturizer might not have evident illuminating properties, but its glow-boosting properties go unrivaled. With vitamin C to help boost the skin's natural radiance and an oxygen complex to deliver a dewy glow, it's like healthy skin in a tub.
18. Dr. Barbara Sturm Glow Drops
A number of celebs (including Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Katie Holmes) swear by Dr. Barbara Sturm's glowing skincare, and these Glow Drops are a firm favorite. With polygonum bistorta root to help even skin tone, wild rose extract to refine pores and hyaluronic acid to plump and hydrate, these glow drops mean business.
19. Sunday Riley CEO Afterglow Brightening Vitamin C Cream
Few skincare ranges are as glow-boosting as Sunday Riley's CEO. The latest addition to the range is this lightweight cream, which delivers intense hydration without feeling greasy. On top of generally being a great moisturizer, it is also jam-packed with glow-boosting vitamin C for antioxidant protection and has a very subtle shimmering yellow tint to help give skin a visible energy boost.
20. Liz Earle Revitalise & Glow Illuminating Gel Moisturizer
Beloved for their cult hot cloth cleanser, Liz Earle really knows a thing or two about caring for skin to ensure maximum glow—and this lightweight gel moisturizer is no exception. It uses a hefty dose of prickly pear to gently exfoliate the skin's surface and reveal the brighter skin below before delivering a dose of skin-brightening vitamin C via acerola cherry. The result is a soft, smooth, and dewy complexion with genuine radiance.
