The spring/summer 2025 collections showed us some glimpses at how fashion will be shifting in the coming months, and the upcoming year. While there are a number of trends we are predicting will shape what people wear, one of the standouts is a return to romantic fashion. Designers including Chloé, Valentino, Khaite, and Miu Miu each showcased this in a number of ways. Printed floral dresses finished in sweeping silhouettes, pastel shades such as powder pink, gauzy layers of sheer chiffon, and even pretty embellishments in the form of satin bows affixed to evening jackets.

Of all of the romantic trends observed on the runways, however, the return of the lace slip dress felt significant. The last fashion moment when slip dresses were prominent was in 2025 when Phoebe Philo opened the Celine spring/summer 2016 runway show with a white dress finished in black lace trim, as well as more variations of the piece throughout the collection. The dress was as impactful during fashion week as it later was on the market as shoppers added the exact piece and similar styles to their wardrobes. Exactly ten years later, the lace slip dress is poised to make a major comeback. Ahead, shop the best lace slip dresses to add to your closet.
