These 5 John Lewis Pieces Are Trending So Hard They're Bound to Sell Out
Who What Wear editors really, really love editing. Honestly, it's a pleasure. Finding you the very best pieces from any given brand, store or e-commerce platform is our speciality. Because saving you time, money and closet space (if you buy the wrong things in the first place, they are like dead weight in a wardrobe) is so vital that we're really quite strict about what passes muster and makes it into our stories.
We particularly enjoy unearthing gems in unexpected places, and although not entirely a surprise, John Lewis & Partners has really stepped up to the bar for spring 2019. The fashion offering from this beloved British megalith has been on the rise since offshoot lines And/Or, Kin and Modern Rarity were introduced at different points throughout the past few years. However, it was last autumn/winter that really established the John Lewis & Partners own name brand as a fashionable force to be reckoned with.
While the rest of the high street caters to fast-paced trends and ever-changing must-haves, this line delivers smart building blocks that can be compiled over time to create a forever wardrobe.
They're no less exciting than a quick fix, thanks to the considered pattern cutting and bright colours, but they're guaranteed to last far longer.
It didn't take much to convince us when we were able to preview the debut line months and months ago, but it would appear that the rest of the shopping community has caught up with us.
Keep scrolling to discover the key John Lewis fashion items that are trending in 2019…
1. The Trench Coat

Erica Davis wears the buttercup yellow soft fabric trench coat.
We know editors who are willing to fight over what we consider to be the JL pièce de résistance this season: the balloon-sleeved trench coat. Sure, it comes in a classic beige colourway, but how gorgeous is it in cornflower blue instead? A classic with a twist, if ever we saw one.
2. The Jumpsuit
It probably hasn't escaped your attention that Team Who What Wear UK is boilersuit mad. We've tried them all, and we know that the very best ones are looser fitting with either a belt around the waist or an elastic waistband to define one's figure. This comfy number has the latter, and it's selling out fast in the khaki colourway. On a side note, this also comes up to a size 20, which is brilliant considering many high-street competitors struggle to stock more than a size 14…
3. The Bags

Last autumn/winter, John Lewis & Partners's circular bags really captured the imaginations of bloggers up and down the country. Those are still entirely relevant and look great, but if you fancy updating your collection or joining the club, I suggest getting your mitts on one of the cylinder styles (they're already cropping up on my feed) or the neat bumbag (which I own and can attest to its cuteness).

4. The Trouser Suits

Who What Wear's Mica Ricketts wears the green John Lewis & Partners green suit.
It doesn't take much to persuade me into a trouser suit, but I'm always partial to one that features well-tailored wide-leg trousers, as they tend to suit my curvier frame quite well. Although I'm not the only girl after one of these bold two-piece outfit solutions, I love how Mira (pictured at the top of the piece) has worn her in a more casual, streetwear-inspired way with sneaks.
5. The Swimsuit
Alexis Foreman wearing a John Lewis & Partners swimsuit.
My colleague Joy (an expert at sniffing out the very best pieces on the high street) spotted this square-necked swimsuit at a press day in emerald-green colourway and instantly knew it was going to be a smash. We've seen it in black on one of the women we trust most for fashion advice, Alexis Foreman (pictured above).
Next up, your capsule summer wardrobe.
