I know what you're thinking: It's beyond freezing in the middle of February, so how can you possibly be thinking about swimwear right now? Call it wishful thinking, but bikinis are pretty much the only thing on my mind at the moment. I blame one site, in particular, for making my mind wander somewhere sunny. One browse through Free People's swim section, and you'll be right there with me—mentally bronzing on a beach in 2019's biggest swim trends.
With swimwear burning on the brain, I figured I should quit trying to fight it and get a jump start on my summer shopping. I reached out to Free People's swim buyer, Meg Grauzlis, to see what trends are the safest bet to buy into right now. “This year, Free People is most excited about bandeaus and underwire tops paired with high-waisted and high-cut bottoms," she advises. "For swim patterns, customers can expect to see a lot of tropical, florals, bold retro prints, and textures like classic ribs. Asymmetrical pieces are an unexpected trend we expect to see all summer long.”
With these trends in mind, I took a deeper dive into the site and ended up adding enough suits to my wish list to last me through 2020.
