The Timeless Dress Style Everyone in London Is Getting Behind This Summer
In our eternal search for seasonal style inspo, we spend a lot of our time on the lookout out for those standout trends and statement pieces. However, it's all too easy to overcomplicate things, and often it's the most—dare we say it—basic looks that are the most flattering and reliable items in our wardrobes, especially during summertime, when our top priority is staying cool.
LoveShackFancy is one of the fashion crowd's favourite brands when it comes to ditzy florals.
The floral midi dress falls pretty neatly into this category. Available in every single colourway, fit and price point you could imagine, this timeless look has been a summer go-to for the last 60 years—from the thigh-grazing shift dresses of the '60s to the barely there slips of the '90s. Fast-forward to 2019 and we're taking a slightly more postmodern approach, picking and choosing details from across the decades: Think bold '70s prints, '50s tea dress silhouettes and formfitting '80s fits.
The floral mini has been all over London this summer, and it's just what you need when the mercury rises, whether you wear it with platform sandals or Veja trainers. For high-street hits, I would recommend heading to & Other Stories and Topshop, for elegant wrap and puffed-sleeved styles. On the other end of the spectrum, we have LoveShackFancy (the fashion-girl's fave), Vampire's Wife and Zimmerman. But they won't be sticking around for long, so get them before they go. The '90s slip-style dress now comes in shorter varieties, and Maria Bernad gets it so right with this yellow V-neck number.
