Given that I spend a good chunk of my day scrolling through a variety of e-commerce sites because of my role as a fashion editor, my friends and family routinely hit me up for shopping tips. On one of my recent Zoom catch-ups with a friend of mine, she again asked for advice on a few items she could add to her wardrobe to enhance her closet and keep it current. She tends to wear a lot of basics, so she wanted items that were basics adjacent (you know, those trendier simple items). She also didn't want to spend more than $100 on any given piece.

I ended up going through a few of my go-to stores—including Nordstrom, Shopbop, and H&M—and bookmarking seven chic items I thought she'd like. Below, you'll uncover the said affordable pieces she's considering. You'll also find a smattering of other items that could pique your interest as well if you, too, are looking to mix something fresh into your current rotation.
