18 Pairs of "Boring" Jeans We're Buying Before September 23
If you ask us denim-loving Who What Wear editors, boring jeans are the best jeans. After all, the number one thing that jeans have going for them is the fact that they're the most versatile thing you can wear. (But that doesn't mean we don't love a unique pair from time to time. How amazing are these?)
After months of warm-weather styles, we're ready to transition into fall the best way we know how: denim. Each of us has had our eye on a few pairs of everyday (aka "boring") jeans that we know we'll wear constantly when fall hits on September 23 and beyond.
As you'll see below, many of us have similar taste when it comes to the brands we shop for the best "boring" jeans. There are several styles from the likes of Agolde, J Brand, Levi's, and more. Now is the best time of year to stock up on denim, so keep scrolling to shop the pairs of jeans we plan on purchasing.
"J Brand designed these in collaboration with Elsa Hosk, giving them the ultimate cool-girl feel. I'm way into the slouchy-but-not-too-slouchy shape, something I'd wear with a pretty blouse and kitten heels."
"So many of Who What Wear's editors own these jeans that I think I need to add them to my wardrobe now, too. Between the high rise and the straight leg fit, they encompass everything I look for in a pair of jeans. I'll be opting for the washed black color because I basically live in black jeans in the fall."
"If you haven't heard, skinny jeans have returned for fall. It's a comeback we'll be seeing after they were styled on the Celine runway with slouchy boots, which is exactly how I'll be wearing mine."
"I've been living in these ultra-high-rise wide-leg jeans from Citizens of Humanity and can't recommend them enough."
"If I were to pick one shade of denim to wear for the rest of my life, this would be it. At first glance, these seem like they're pretty standard basic jeans. However, the fit is impeccable, and the back pockets add something special. Goldsign is known for those unique back pockets, and I'm obsessed with how they look."
"I only need two pairs of black jeans in my life. These looser, straight-fit black jeans are pair numero uno."
"This slightly skinnier straight leg is the second pair. You can't really beat $40 for a pair of quality Levi's. I will leave them long rather than hemming them for a cropped fit, as I'm sensing a turn of the tides against ankle-baring jeans."
"I don't even know what it is about these jeans that's speaking to me so much, but I feel the need to own them (and re-create this perfectly simple outfit) immediately."
"Another perfect pair of straight-leg jeans that will make all your fall outfits better."
"I'm really into off-white and cream-colored jeans, which I can't wait to pair with similar-hued sweaters this fall. (You wouldn't guess I have a baby!) This Rachel Comey pair is on my fall wish list."
"Basic skinny and slim-leg jeans are back for fall (thanks in part to their substantial appearance on the Celine runway.) This Citizens of Humanity pair are perfect to wear with my knee high-boots and strappy sandals alike."
"These have everything I want in a pair of jeans right now: a relaxed fit, a hint of stretch, a high rise, a timeless wash, and an under-$100 price point."
"These say ankle length, but the inseam is 28 inches, which is pretty much full length for my height of 5'4". They're basically the perfect classic black skinny jeans, and I love that the wash is a bit faded. It makes them feel fresh for 2019."
"These are so good I want them in the denim blue and khaki green colors too (and at this price, not much is stopping me). I know it's hard to believe, but the new wave of pleated jeans is surprisingly flattering."
"J Brand is one of my go-tos for comfortable denim. I have a few pairs that I live in, but for fall, I'll be adding this straight-leg (I told you) black pair to my cart stat."
"I'm all about a good straight-leg jean. These from Agolde are perfection. The wash is easy to wear, and the rise hits me just right. There's nothing fancy about them. They are just the jeans you always reach for in your denim drawer, and that's more than enough."
"I love J Brand's black wide-leg jeans because they're super versatile and look much more polished than blue skinny jeans. You can get the look of trousers but the comfort of stretchy jeans—win-win."
"I wear these jeans all the time. They're super stretchy and comfortable, and I've even put them to the ultimate test: wearing them on long-haul flights. Yep, they're that good."
