Found: The Best Drugstore Dupes for 13 Cult-Favorite Lipsticks
Not to brag, but I'm pretty good at discovering beauty dupes. It's my job, after all, to read reviews, research product labels, and test formulas to determine which high-end products are actually worth their spendier price tags and which ones you could skip in favor of a drugstore hero. Admittedly, lipstick tends to skew toward the latter camp. Unless you have a luxury lippie you can't imagine parting ways with (I certainly have a few!), you can probably find a very similar option for $10 or less. I say this as a beauty editor who has tested practically every lipstick under the sun! Even with a robust collection of high-end lip colors, I'll revert to the stalwarts I find at the drugstore.
Don't let the budget-friendly prices fool you into thinking they aren't high-performing. From velvety mattes to high-shine balms and slick liquid finishes, these drugstore lipsticks below rival cult-favorite formulas three times their price. Keep scrolling. I'd wager you'll find a new makeup-bag staple.

1. E.l.f. Sheer Slick Lipstick
Dupe for: RMS Beauty's Legendary Serum Lipstick ($35)
One of my all-time favorite lip products is RMS Beauty's Legendary Serum Lipstick. It's richly pigmented yet nondrying, and it has long wear like no other. I didn't think any other lippie could measure up, let alone an under-$10 pick, until I came across this E.l.f. number. It deposits a similar wash of color and drenches the lips in hydration without sliding off in minutes. Black Cherry is a perfect dupe for the RMS rose-brown hue I typically reach for, and multiple reviewers also say it looks just like Clinique's cult-famous Almost Lipstick in Black Honey.
Customer review: "This may be my favorite lip color I have ever tried. It's a great dupe for Clinique Black [Honey], and it actually stayed on all day, even through lunch. I added a little Aquaphor after applying, and my lips stayed moist and tinted all day."
2. Covergirl Clean Lip Color
Dupe for: Bobbi Brown Luxe Lipstick ($43)
This satin-finish lip color is infused with squalane, plus avocado and aloe butters, to smooth lip lines and keep your pout hydrated. Despite the creamy consistency, these will not smudge or feather midday, which is a major pet peeve of mine. The creaminess reminds me of a Bobbi Brown lipstick I find super nourishing, and the pinky-brown shades are practically identical.
Customer review: "I am not someone who uses lipstick regularly, but this new Covergirl Clean Lip Color has made me a convert! It has a rich color that really [pops] and lasts a long time. It goes on smoothly and doesn't have that sticky, heavy feel that some lipsticks have."
3. E.l.f. Pout Clout Lip Plumping Pen
Dupe for: Hourglass Phantom Volumizing Glossy Lip Balm ($36)
According to WWW Beauty Director Erin Jahns, E.l.f.'s Pout Clout Lip Plumping Pen is a perfect dupe for an Hourglass fan favorite. Both formulas are juicy and nourishing and have a sheer color payoff that you can easily build to your liking. They're also both balm-gloss hybrids, meaning they deliver a high-shine finish that doesn't feel sticky. The only difference is that E.l.f.'s is basically a fifth of the price.
Customer review: "I am in love with this product. I was skeptical because I am pretty picky with my lip products. This is buildable pigment, very glossy, not sticky, and lasts a long time. There is a slight scent which I find pleasant. It has that minty feeling some plumping products have, though I would not say it actually plumps the lips. It does make them look glossy and overall very pretty. I am very impressed, especially at this price point. I got the Bust a Mauve color, and it's the perfect 'my lip but better' color."
4. Milani Color Fetish Matte Lipstick
Dupe for: Westman Atelier Lip Suede Hydrating Matte Lipstick ($50)
"I'm obsessed with Milani lipsticks. They're so good!" says WWW associate beauty editor Kaitlyn McLintock. This rosy matte is such a stunner, and the pillow-soft feel reminds me of Westman Atelier's Je Rêve Lip Suede. Both deliver a diffused, matte finish without making your lips wither up moments after applying.
Customer review: "The color is so perfect—fresh and pretty! The finish is different from other lipsticks; it is not dry. Stays for a long time. I will buy again."
5. L'Oréal Glow Paradise Balm-in-Lipstick
Dupe for: Dior Addict Lip Glow ($40)
"L'Oréal Glow Paradise Balm-in-Lipsticks are great dupes for Dior Addict Lip Glow. There, I said it," adds McLintock. It's a hot take, but she's totally right—I mean, even the two sheer, petal-pink shades are pretty similar. L'Oréal's option will only set you back $11, as opposed to Dior's $40 price tag, which feels like stealing.
Customer review: "I rarely write reviews, this warrants some comments though. Stays on well, not sticky, not thick, sheer but pigmented, no weird smells or tastes, flattering & smooth. If you want color that is different than your natural lips, choose 2 levels stronger than you normally would. It is pigmented & a little buildable *but* still sheer if that makes sense. No liner needed unless you fill in the entire lip & use this on top, which would be nice too. Definitely an A+."
6. Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick
Dupe for: Chantecaille Rose Quartz Lip Cristal
Remember Chantecaille's limited-edition Lip Cristal? The twinkling bullet was so pretty I almost didn't want to use it. (I definitely did, and it was stunning.) It's difficult to find an exact replica, but the frosted finish on this Rimmel lippie has a similar payoff. The shade Iced Rose is just divine, and it has a subtle highlighting effect to make your lips appear even juicier.
Customer review: "I’m always on the hunt for a new lipstick. This hunt was for a light, long-lasting shade for spring and summer with a little pazazzz. That's exactly what I got! And the price is amazingly affordable. I'm going to get another one for on-the-go touch-ups."
7. Clinique Pop Longwear Lipstick
Dupe for: Hermès Rouge Hermès Satin Lipstick ($75)
A bright, Popsicle-like finish is exactly what I crave in a summer lipstick. This Clinique option perfectly fits the bill. It has a rich, shiny finish with eight-hour wear, so it won't melt off your lips in the summer heat. It doesn't hurt that the juicy hue reminds me of my favorite Hermès lippie.
Customer review: "I love the tube, shiny green and secure. The lipstick DOES NOT change color like some lipsticks do. The color is rich and feels great and moisturizing on my lips. I just love it. Don't hesitate to buy this lipstick."
8. Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick
Dupe for: Pat McGrath Labs Dramatique Mega Lip Pencil ($29)
I love a buttery lip pencil for sharp, precise looks, and I absolutely adore Pat McGrath's formula. It blends like a dream yet doesn't budge once it dries. I'm happy to report that Neutrogena's Color Stick is quite similar in consistency and efficacy! The pigment glides easily, nourishes the lips all day long, and provides a vibrant payoff.
Customer review: "This is the absolute best lip color I have ever used. Goes on smooth, and you can truly feel the moisture. I absolutely love it!"
9. Mineral Fusion Lipstick
Dupe for: Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick ($35)
The first time I tried Mineral Fusion's Prosecco (a rosy lip color), I immediately clocked it as a Pillow Talk dupe. The pinky-brown shades are almost indistinguishable, and both depart a smooth, matte finish that doesn't feel too drying. It's the one I send to my friends when they ask me whether the viral Charlotte Tilbury lip color is really worth it. (It is, but it often sells out—Mineral Fusion is a great stand-in!)
Customer review: "I actually fell in love with this lipstick. I was scared the color was not going to match me, but it was perfect! So smooth and hydrating."
10. Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream
Dupe for: Nars Air Matte Lip Color ($28)
Matte liquid lipsticks often feel like car paint. No matter how hydrating the formula seems in the tube, I often find my lips parched and flaking moments after swiping on the color. With Nars and Nyx, however, my pout remains soft and moisturized. The latter has a mousse-like consistency that feels so weightless—I honestly forget that I'm wearing lipstick at all.
Customer review: "The first matte lip cream I bought was in the color Ibiza, and I was HOOKED. It is a beautiful deep coral color. I was so surprised at how [long wearing] this product was and how great it felt on my lips. I went ahead and bought Istanbul, Prague, Addis Ababa, Monte Carlo, Morocco, Zurich, and Transylvania and plan on buying the rest because of the high quality and low price! These matte creams are not drying at all and do not feather on the lips like other matte products do. Plus, the pigmentation is amazing!"
11. Maybelline Super Stay Vinyl Ink
Dupe for: Chanel Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue Ultrawear Liquid Lip Colour ($48)
For a glossier liquid finish, you can't go wrong with Maybelline Super Stay. This moody cranberry is all I want to wear come fall, and it's similar to the high-shine finish of Chanel's Ultrawear Liquid Lip Colour.
Customer review: "The only red lipstick I have ever worn that doesn't make my thin lips look harsh and thinner. It also (!!!) stays on ALL day. I put it on once in the morning, let it dry, drink coffee, eat lunch, drink water, eat snacks, drink water, eat dinner, drink wine, and it's still been there. A little lighter, not as shiny, but the color is still there, and it is not blotchy or faded and worn away in spots."
12. Revlon Super Lustrous Glass Shine Lipstick
Dupe for: Armani Beauty Lip Power Longwear Satin Lipstick ($45)
Armani Beauty has some of the best red lipsticks in the game, but alas, they do cost a pretty penny. Revlon's $7 lipstick provides a similar glass-like sheen that makes your lips appear full and hydrated. The photo makes it seem like there's a frosted, glittery element to the formula, but the payoff definitely reads rich and glossy. Word on the street is that the brand will be phasing out this crowd favorite (sob), so stock up while you still can!
Customer review: "Can't recommend enough. I am obsessed with this formula. It's so soft and creamy that I feel like I'm wearing a moisturizing lip balm. The color payoff is fantastic, apply just a little for a sheer touch of color or layer it on as the product is buildable. I'm literally stockpiling these because I'm already dreading the day they're discontinued!"
13. Burt's Bees Gloss & Glow Glossy Balm
Dupe for: Glossier Ultralip High Shine Lipstick ($22)
You might know Burt's Bees for its hydrating, simple lip balms, but don't sleep on the brand's tinted lineup! I'm especially partial to this glossy number—the shade Chai Time reminds me of Glossier's Ultralip in Villa. Even the sweet pink packaging resembles each other. I typically have no less than six Burt's Bees balms in my tote at all times, and this is a "no-makeup makeup" staple I always make sure to have on hand.
Customer review: "The Chai Time is a perfect semi-sheer mauve color. It's exactly what I wanted—something I could wear casually day-to-day for some color without wearing a gloss or lipstick. This is slightly glossy but definitely more like a tinted lip balm."
