The 4 Comfortable Shoe Styles That Look Best With Skinny Jeans
It's no secret that we love a good pair of skinny jeans. (The key word here is good.) If you find the right pair, they feel stretchy and comfortable like a second skin. They hug your shape, creating a silhouette that's at once casual and professional, depending on how you choose to style them.
Seeing as it's almost June, we're brushing up on the best ways to wear our skinny jeans in summer and shopping for complementary tops, accessories, and shoes that will enhance our active summertime lifestyles. That's right: We're shopping for only the most comfortable items out there—those that will not just allow us but also encourage us to take a long stroll along the boardwalk or head out for a casual jaunt around town (with zero chafing, rubbing, or blistering involved). Today, we're focusing on the latter category: footwear. Keep scrolling to see four comfortable shoe styles that look best when paired with skinny jeans. Wear these, and you'll be stylish and comfortable all summer long.
1. Sneakers
Sneakers are perhaps the most obvious choice when it comes to comfortable (and sensible) footwear. Fashion insiders will tell you that sneakers are also an extremely stylish choice. They're cool, casual, and effortless, almost like the fashion equivalent of no-makeup makeup.
The best part is that sneakers encapsulate an extremely broad category of footwear. Opt for classic Converse kicks or platform espadrilles like the ones @nazjuju wears here.
There are also dad sneakers to think about. We think these chunky white sneakers look best when paired with a sleek pair of skinny jeans, whether classic blue or leopard print, since they balance out their proportions. Add a white tee and sunglasses and you'll be all set for weekend brunch.
2. Kitten Heels
If you want to dress up an outfit but don't want to wear a towering pair of pumps, slip on a pair of kitten heels. They're low enough to the ground to keep your ankles and heels happy, but they're a bit more polished than your average pair of white sneakers.
Whether they're pointed mules or strappy sandals, kitten heels are fashion insider–approved.
We like this combination of dark, cropped skinny jeans and round-toe mules. Add in a top-handle logo bag like @noore did, and you'll get something similar to this cool '90s-inspired outfit.
3. Block Heels
Similar to kitten heels, block heels make a pair of skinny jeans look elevated and polished without adding all of the extra height (or subsequent foot pain, blisters, or wobbling) that stilettos do.
Is it just us, or are these woven block heels the perfect shoes for wearing on a summer weekend?
Finish off an all-black ensemble with a pair of block-heel sock boots like @simplytandya's.
4. Ankle Boots
Don't think ankle boots are just for fall and winter. Influencers know that they work just as well in summer (which is great, because they're much more comfortable than most heels).
Pointed ankle boots, black skinny jeans, a graphic tee, and a Dior Calfskin Saddle Belt Bag ($1650) make for a balanced summer outfit equation, as proven by @camilacoelho.
It's not just black leather boots we're talking about, either. We love the way skinny jeans look with white or snakeskin styles for summer, too.
