Sorry, roll-necks, there's a new knitwear staple in town, and it's on its way to becoming our favourite new layering hero. We should add that new is, of course, a relative term, as the humble cardigan has been on the scene for decades now, however it is much more likely to be associated with stereotypically old fashioned dressing, rather than something worn by the fashion elite.
But, if we know anything, it's that this season it's all about reclaiming those frumpy silhouettes that were previously disregarded for their supposedly unflattering finish. However, you need merely look at the outfits of influencers such as Grece Ghanem to see that the cardigan 2.0 is anything but boring.
The high street in particular has delivered plenty of winning cardigans this season, with stores such as & Other Stories, Arket and H&M beating high-end offerings to the top spot. You'd never know that Grece's leopard-print cardi comes in under £100. Other highlights include Arket's zip-up cream cardigan, which will look fab with cropped flares and chunky boots, and H&M's ribbon-tie ribbed iteration, which will look so elegant with a lace bra, layered necklaces and slip skirt.
