This New Bag Trend Looks Expensive No Matter How Much You Spend
The one thing that I am asked again and again as an editor at Who What Wear is, "How can I look expensive?" Well, the answer is never as simple as spending a lot of money. Mainly because you certainly can assemble an elegant and elevated wardrobe on a high-street budget. However, there are certain trends and items that will make your outfit look more expensive no matter how much you spend.
This summer, there is one accessory that I think makes any outfit instantly look more refined: linen or canvas bags in a taupe colour, typically with tan leather detailing or handles. This trend was started by luxury powerhouses, such as Loewe, Saint Laurent, Valextra and The Row. Mid-priced designer bag brands like Staud, Wandler and Elleme are also championing this trend, with buckets and totes in this cream and tan pairing.
Often, the high street can fall short in the handbag department, however, Charles & Keith and Marks and Spencer prove that you can spend under £100 to tap into this trend. Rosie Huntington-Whitely used her Saint Laurent version as a beach bag in Capri, confirming this is the chicest carry-on of the summer.
