Certain items have become fashion-person calling cards. Whether it be the current It Bottega bag or colorful tights, spotting them IRL immediately tells me that the person in question is clued into the key trends of the moment. I've already discussed the shoe trends that fall into this category, and today, I'm focusing your attention on one warm-weather item in particular: Bermuda shorts. While the trend was deemed "out there" when it landed on radars several seasons ago, I would classify it as an updated wardrobe staple.

Instead of going for super-short shorts, the fashion crowd has fully adopted longer lengths that offer a bit more coverage. The knee-grazing silhouette has reached far and wide to include everything from tailored versions to carefree, vacation-ready shorts and even Bermuda-length sweatshorts. Here, see how the shorts have become the new default, and shop all of the longer-length pairs I have in my cart right now.
