I Always Find Shopping for Jeans Hard, But These Arket Pairs Fit Perfectly

My specialist subjects are handbags and jeans. From spotting a rare Birkin a mile off to identifying the next big style in denim, my expertise in these two categories is incredibly useful for my job. Whilst I'm a self-appointed denim devotee, having tried on hundreds of jeans in my time, I know all about the struggles to find the elusive perfect pair, from deciding on a cut, identifying rigid or soft denim and finally, finding a size that fits like a dream, regardless of the number on the label. But I'm always up for a challenge, and with all my knowledge and ability to try on styles just for you, I've taken it upon myself to check out one high-street store that always hits the denim mark: Arket.

With a focus on elevated wardrobe staples and bringing high quality to the high street, Arket has always been a brand that fashion people turn to, and hunting for great denim is no exception. From tried and true straight cuts to trending wide-leg styles, the brand tackles denim design with a considered edge, just as it does with its sleek tailoring, sunny-day dresses and more.

This week, I took to Arket once again to try on its best-selling denim styles. After falling in love with the now cult Cloud jeans and highly rated Jade style, I returned to put all of its best denim to the test. Whilst finding the perfect pair at Arket is easier than at most other stores, it still helps to have a guide, and so I've pulled all of the best sellers into one concise place, so whether you're looking for timeless straight-legs, trending low-rise cuts or playful flares, you'll find the pair for you.

THE BEST ARKET JEANS, TRIED BY AN EDITOR

1. ARKET CLOUD JEANS

Style Notes: If you've seen my mega high-street jeans try-on, you'll know I've already fallen for the Cloud jeans once before. Featuring a loose cut and low-slung waistband, I was surprised to like this pair as much as I did, but the relaxed feel and super-soft denim won me over. Taking my usual size, (28) these fit like a dream.

2. ARKET JADE JEANS

Style Notes: Naturally, I had to put Arket's famous Jade jeans to the test. Hailed as the best straight-leg jeans around by many fashion people I know, this pair certainly didn't disappoint. They're definitely a slimmer straight fit, and I've found that Arket's rigid denim calls for a size up on me (I'm wearing a size 29 here). If you're petite, the cropped style means they hit the ankle just right.

3. ARKET SHORE JEANS

Style Notes: After being seriously impressed by the Cloud jeans, I was keen to see what the low, relaxed-fit Shore had to offer. The cut is what impressed me most, with a looser fit that didn't feel overwhelming, and the subtle low waist was an easy adjustment for this high-rise devotee. In a softer denim, I took my true size here (28).

4. ARKET LUPINE JEANS

Style Notes: You might be able to tell from my smile in this photo, but I loved this pair. A super-high-waist style in really soft denim with bold front pockets that add a '70s edge, this pair fits true to size and could be described as a wide-leg/flare hybrid. Lupine is listed in European sizes, so I took a 38, which equates to a 28/29.

5. ARKET ASTER JEANS

Style Notes: Whilst they didn't look like much when hung up, this pair really surprised me. A flared style with a comfortable stretch, Aster is made of super-soft denim and fits true to size. They were a touch on the long side (I'm 5'2", for reference), every petite person knows to find a great dry cleaner who can hem to your perfect length whilst keeping them looking brand new.

6. ARKET ROSE JEANS

Style Notes: As opposed to the slim cut of the Jade, the Rose jeans are more of a straight silhouette, and the crop feels slightly higher too, making for a certified cropped style on an already petite person. As far as straight jeans go, these are a really solid choice, in thick, rigid denim that feels really authentic. As with all the rigid denim styles at Arket, I would go for the next size up.

7. ARKET POPLAR JEANS

Style Notes: Last but not least, Poplar. I was immediately drawn to the dark indigo wash of this pair, which feels particularly fresh for 2024. The style comes up mid-waist and is made from the soft, easy denim that continues to draw me back to Arket. The cut is somewhere between loose and straight, with a really relaxed feel. This pair was quite long on me, but it's nothing a little tailoring couldn't fix.
