I'm a 44-Year-Old Beauty Editor Who Loves a Hot Take: 14 Drugstore Finds That Will Save You *So* Much Money

Best Drugstore Beauty Finds

Several perks come with being a longtime beauty editor—namely, the privilege of trying just about every product, from ridiculously expensive moisturizers with weird ingredients to some pretty far-out-there skincare treatments. But even after years of slathering my mug with luxurious lotions and potions, I always find myself returning to certain drugstore staples. While I’ll always love my higher-end, holy-grail skincare, I truly believe that great beauty products don’t have to cost half of L.A. rent—some of the best formulas are waiting for you right under the bright, glorious, fluorescent lights of your local Walmart.

Now that I’m in my 40s, my outlook on beauty (and everything else, NGL) has shifted: Hydration is a non-negotiable, a dewy base is far superior to the matte foundations of my past, and nothing beats a multipurpose balm. Don’t get me wrong—I still love a good splurge. But I’m also all about those affordable, effective gems that perform just as well (if not better) than their expensive counterparts. It’s all about balance, baby! (I am a Libra, after all.)

So, consider this my love letter to the drugstore finds that have earned permanent real estate in my beauty arsenal. Keep reading to discover my go-to picks for a long-wearing lipstick that doesn’t budge after a four-course meal, an ultra-hydrating snail jelly mask, and a gourmand perfume that smells way more expensive than it actually is.
