Every Beauty Editor Has This $39-or-Less Bodycare Brand on Their Roster This Summer
I always look forward to summer. In fact, dreaming of long, luxurious beach days; late-night dinners; and a jam-packed social schedule is the only thing that gets me through winter. (I live in the Midwest, so I have to put up with dark, cold, dreary days before I reach June. And when you go through six months of less-than-ideal weather, summer hits different.)
Once summer finally gets here, the last thing I want to do is feel uncomfortable in my own skin. No—I'm not talking about how my body looks. I gave up the notion that I had to achieve some ambiguous "bikini body" long ago. I'm mainly talking about summertime skin concerns like razor burn, ingrown hairs, and sun-parched skin. I once thought these things were synonymous with the season, but now I know they don't have to be.
That's because I'm all stocked up on a $39-or-less bodycare brand that's beloved by beauty editors (like me). The brand in question is Truly Beauty. After adding selected products to my routine, my skin is smooth, clear, and glowing—like "I just got back from a two-week vacation" glowing. I can totally see why it went viral on TikTok. I always get ingrown hairs around my bikini line, which is why I'm going to keep a jar of this shave butter on hand at all times. It starts out as a super-luxe butter texture and transforms into a silky, sudsy lather. It's designed specifically for shaving the pubic area, and it creates a comfortable barrier between the skin and a razor to prevent nicks, razor burn, and ingrown hairs.
Thanks to exfoliating pineapple enzymes and antimicrobial ingredients, it creates the perfect conditions for a close, sleek shave. It also smells incredible; the fruity and tropical scent always boosts my mood. Think piña colada vibes.
After shaving, I apply this oil to my bikini line every couple of days. I find that it keeps my skin smooth and moisturized, which seriously limits the potential for ingrowns. Good riddance.
The silky, lightweight texture reminds me of a dry oil in that it doesn't leave my skin feeling oily or greasy. With a host of antimicrobial ingredients like lavender and tea tree, it also keeps my pores clear and skin petal-soft. I love it.
The aforementioned oil helps prevent ingrowns, but this serum kicks it up a notch. It's concentrated to relieve and prevent ingrowns as well as the redness and irritation associated with them. Again, it's all thanks to antimicrobial, soothing ingredients like lavender, jojoba, and primrose. I swear by this for post-shaving and -waxing.
Another Truly Beauty shave butter I love. I used this one year-round. It has that rich, velvety texture I love, and it's packed full of coconut milk, argan oil, white tea, and vitamin E. And it smells like whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. It's so sumptuous.
When I use the aforementioned shave butter, I have to follow it up with the matching after-shave serum. It's infused with calming coconut, antibacterial vanilla, and moisturizing argan oil. Together, these ingredients defeat dryness, irritation, and yes, ingrown hairs. It has a milky, almost pearlescent look to it, so it makes my skin glow. That's why I love using it on my legs especially.
I'm not done with the Coco Cloud products yet. Last but not least, this after-shave moisturizer is elite. It's thick and buttery and coats my skin in comforting moisture. I swear my razor burn is nonexistent when I use this on my legs. I'll even use it on my underarms if they get irritated from more consistent summertime shaving.
I don't always use this serum, but when I do, it's almost always before I hit the beach in a cheeky bikini. The skin-tightening, firming, and smoothing effects come courtesy of ingredients like collagen and guarana (a caffeine-rich plant).
If there's one area we could all improve in, it's neck and chest skincare. I've heard countless dermatologists say that the décolletage tends to show signs of aging before other areas, yet I still forget to give it some TLC.
This overnight mask is a good reminder to do better. It's infused with adaptogenic herbs like ashwagandha and ginseng to help the skin adapt better to stress, which prevents signs of aging. There's also hyaluronic acid and vegan collagen to hydrate and plump out fine lines and wrinkles.
I rarely deal with body acne, unless it gets really hot and humid or I get really active (summertime jogs always do it). In those cases, I'll use exfoliating, anti-acne bodywashes. I have multiple in my collection, including this one.
It uses mandelic acid (an acne-fighting hero ingredient!), niacinamide, and allantoin to kill bad bacteria, soothe irritation, and hydrate dry skin. It works well everywhere you get body breakouts—not just on the back.
I love a skin-smoothing body scrub, and this one's no exception. I'm not kidding when I say I used it to the very last sugar grain—and then I immediately ordered another one.
The formula is made up of sugar in a base of 100% coconut oil, lavender, and vitamin E. The blue tint comes from blue tansy, an anti-inflammatory ingredient found in many skin-soothing products. Did I mention it smells like blue raspberry?
If you want glowing skin that's bright and smooth enough to hit "glazed donut" level, this post-shave oil is for you. It's perfect for summer because it has a cooling, flash-absorbing formula. Translation? It won't leave you feeling hot, sticky, and greasy. It even smells like summer.
Melt this after-shave moisturizer into your limbs, and I promise they'll look bright, smooth, and oh so dewy. Plus, ingredients like hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and vitamin E will protect freshly shaved skin from razor burn and ingrowns.
Want to know what I hate most about ingrown hairs? It's that once they're gone, they're not really gone. They can leave dark spots on my skin from something called post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH).
This body serum is the fix. It lightens hyperpigmentation from hormonal changes, sun damage, breakouts, and ingrowns. The secret is in the formula. It's rich in pomegranate extract, eucalyptus, and vitamin B12—all of which even the skin tone and brighten dark spots. Use it anywhere you see fit. For me, that's my underarms and bikini line.
This delightful little rainbow-packed jar contains a plumping lip balm. It looks thick and heavy in the packaging, but it melts down into a silky, hydrating texture once it hits the lips. Ingredients like peppermint, matcha, and açaí go to work, hydrating, plumping, and protecting dry, fragile skin.
Remember how I said I tend to forget to care for my décolletage? I'm eyeing this product to change that. Yes, it's a "boob butter," which is oddly specific, but it promises to smooth, hydrate, and firm sagging skin, so I'm sold. It's all thanks to a fruity mix of ingredients like melon, kiwi, and ginseng. Delightful.
