I'm a Skincare Snob, But This Affordable Range Has Transformed My Complexion

Thanks to my job, I've been lucky enough to try out some of the most expensive skincare brands on the market. From La Mer to Augustinus Bader and La Prairie, my bathroom cabinet is probably worth more than my monthly rent. Therefore it's really no surprise that over the years I've become a little bit of a skincare snob. Don't get me wrong, I know you don't need to spend a lot in order to have an effective skincare routine, but I've definitely started favouring luxury brands over their affordable counterparts due to the chic packaging and spa-like formulas.

So, when everyone in the office started talking about Beauty Pie's Plantastic skincare products, I'll admit that I wasn't immediately sold. Sure, they sounded great, but would they compete with my current routine? Like any good journalist, I knew that there was only one way to find out, so I stocked up on the entire Plantastic range and swapped out my usual skincare staples for Beauty Pie's more affordable alternatives. Keep on scrolling to see how I got on...

What Is Beauty Pie's Plantastic Collection?

First things first, what is the Plantastic range? Any Beauty Pie fan will know that the brand have lots of different skincare ranges on offer, from the popular Youthbomb products to the high-performing Super Healthy Skin edit. However, what makes the Plantastic range different is that all of the products feature fruit and nut butters, flower acids, algae, antioxidants and natural oils. The entire range is made up of clean-formulated, natural skincare that according to the brand, has been "cherry-picked from a collection of great labs around the globe."

What Products Are Part of the Beauty Pie Plantastic Collection?

There are seven products in the collection, ranging from cleansing balms to facial oils and even hand creams. I decided to try some of the hero products from the range, so I picked up the cleansing balm, the moisturiser, the micropeeling drops and the facial oil.

The Formulas

1. Beauty Pie Plantastic™ Apricot Butter Cleansing Balm

In my opinion, this is definitely the stand-out product. I've used a lot of cleansing balms in my time, but none have left my skin feeling quite as good as this one. The rich, creamy formula features rosehip seed oil, apricot kernel oil and vitamin E to melt away your makeup and decongest clogged pores. I massaged it into my face for around 30 seconds before washing away with hot water and my skin felt smooth, soft and looked totally radiant.

2. Beauty Pie Plantastic™ Deep Nourishing Moisture Balm

This nourishing balm also features an impressive concoction of ingredients, including shea and murumuru butters, sesame and coconut oils, antioxidant vitamin E and tomato stem-cell extract. The best thing about this product is that it can be used on the face, neck, décolleté, hands, feet, knees and elbows to help soothe dry skin.

3. Beauty Pie Plantastic™ Overnight Miracle Face Oil

Possibly one of my favourite face oils ever (and yes, I've tried a lot), this nourishing formula will have you glowing in seconds. Think grapeseed, sweet almond, jojoba, avocado, baobab, rosehip, neroli and turmeric oils, alongside lots of other skin-loving ingredients to calm and rejuvenate the complexion.

4. Beauty Pie Plantastic™ Micropeeling Super Drops

I won't lie, when I first read this product name, it scared me a little bit. I have quite sensitive skin, so I tend to avoid anything that has the word "peeling" in it. However, I was pleasantly surprised by these drops. Designed to keep breakouts at bay and refine pores, the product can be used once or twice a week on all skin types (yes, even sensitive skin). The formula features willow bark extract (a well-known natural alternative to salicylic acid), fruit extracts and kiwiberry stem cells.

The Verdict

After hearing about the incredible formulas, I'm sure you're all keen to know how I got on with the Beauty Pie products. Although I'm a fan of the brand in general, I really didn't expect to love this skincare range as much as I did. You might not believe me, but I would happily swap all of my luxury skincare out and use these products for the rest of time. That's how good they are.

In my opinion, the cleansing balm and the facial oil are the real heros. I have been flying a lot lately and my skin had been looking (and feeling) dry and dull, but thanks to the nourishing ingredients, both of these products brought my skin back to life and left me with a glow like never before. I couldn't believe when I saw that both products were under £30. You don't need a lot so this really is great value for money.

Although I was a fan of the moisture balm, I wouldn't say that this is an absolute staple in my routine. However I do love the fact that you can use it on both the face and body as it makes it great for travelling. The drops were another product that I loved but couldn't see myself repurchasing. That being said, if you do suffer with regular breakouts then you might find yourself buying these again and again.

All in all, this range blew me away, and the difference in my skin has been hard to ignore. Beauty Pie, you've done it again...
