I Cut Back on Gel Manicures After Discovering This OPI Polish Delivers the Same Glossy Finish

There's nothing I love more than going to get my nails done. It feels like such a treat to go and try out some of this year's biggest nail trends, and the finished result is always nothing short of spectacular. That being said, I have incredibly weak nails, so my salon appointments are few and far between. Yep, even though I'm a beauty editor, I choose to do most of my manicures at home as my nails just can't handle wearing gel polish or acrylics all the time. Instead, I prioritise making sure that my nails always feel their best with at-home products such as high-quality nail polishes and clever nail strengtheners and nail growth serums.
Although I want my nails to feel strong and healthy, one thing I don't want to compromise on is the way they look. The reason I love an in-salon manicure so much is because I know that my nail tech can always deliver on that shiny, glass-like finish that I adore. However, I found that getting this finish at home wasn't so easy, until I discovered a particular product from OPI. Let me introduce you to the Infinite Shine Gel-Like Top Coat.
Glass manicures are trending this spring.
Yep, as the name suggests, this top coat gives that gel-like finish in seconds, and since getting my hands on this product, I've used it every single time I've given myself a manicure. We all know that OPI nail polishes are some of the best nail polishes on the market, but even I was surprised by how much I fell in love with this top coat. Intrigued to know more? The Formula
So, what makes this top coat so great? The innovative formula has been designed to mimic gel polish without the need of a UV lamp. Instead, the polish creates a plumping effect and adds serious shine, while also adding extra protection to your nail polish to help it last longer. Yep, it really does tick all the boxes. The best bit? You can just remove it like regular nail polish, meaning it's easy to switch up your nail shade whenever you want. If I don't feel like wearing a colour, I actually just wear this top coat on its own, as I love the way that it makes my nails look.
For
- Adds salon-worthy shine
- Makes your manicure last longer
- Easy to apply
Against
- Somewhat expensive, but worth it
The Application
One thing I struggle with when doing my nails at home is the application itself. I feel like my nail polish can sometimes look streaky or clumpy, but I have never had this issue with the OPI Infinite Shine Top Coat. The wider brush makes applying this polish quick and easy, and it deposits an even amount so you don't have to worry about clumps or streaks. Just be sure to let your nail colour dry before applying the top coat so that they don't interfere with one another.
The Finish
One Coat of OPI Infinite Shine Top Coat on Bare Nails
As you can see, just one coat of this nail polish gives a super glossy, glass-like finish to the nails. This is the result on bare nails and I think the shine speaks for itself.

I also love applying the top coat over some of my favourite neutral OPI nail polishes, from Funny Bunny to Put It In Neutral. It adds a glossy sheen and finishes my manicure off perfectly.
The Verdict
As you can see, this top coat really doesn't disappoint. In my opinion, it totally lives up to the name, delivering a salon-worthy, gel-like shine that I didn't think I could ever achieve at home. Plus, it makes my manicure last so much longer and stops my polish from fading or chipping throughout the week. If, like me, you like to do your nails at home, this is a must-have product. Yes, it adds an extra step into your routine, but it takes seconds to apply and the results are worth it.
