I Just Tried a Full Face of Vieve Makeup—These Are the Best Products I'd Actually Buy
When it comes to the biggest makeup trends, dewy skin is at the top of the list. Over the past few years we've seen a huge shift towards glowing complexions, and pretty much every single makeup brand on the market now has a wide range of base products to help you achieve that lit-from-within look.
That being said, as someone with incredibly dry skin, I know just how hard this can actually be. I've tried my fair share of products over the years, and although some of them have lived up to their promises, most of the time I have been left disappointed with the results. That was until I discovered Vieve.
If you're not yet familiar with this makeup brand, let me introduce you. Founded by professional makeup artist, Jamie Genevieve, these are the products to know about if you want glowing results. Social media can't get enough, and from multi-use makeup products to cream blushers and showstopping highlighters, I'd like to say that Vieve has everything you need for the perfect everyday makeup routine.
However, as a journalist, I know that it's irresponsible of me to make such a bold claim without putting it to the test first. So, I decided to do a full face of Vieve makeup to see if some of the most popular products would transform my dry, lacklustre complexion into a dewy masterpiece. Keep on scrolling to see how I got on, and to shop the makeup products that I would genuinely recommend...
The Best Vieve Makeup Products, Tried & Tested
1. Vieve Super Skin Nova
First up is a new launch from the brand. You may have already heard of Vieve's Skin Nova Instant Radiance Primer (one of the best illuminating primers, in my opinion) but the brand has released a richer, more moisturising version that is perfect for dry skin.
The nourishing formula feels like butter on the skin, without any of that unwanted greasiness. I was a little alarmed by the shade at first, but there was no need, as it added a super natural-looking glow to my complexion—it turns out, it doesn't actually contain pigment, it's just the pearlescent powders that give it its supposed colour. It fact, the brand insists it's actually wearable across all skin tones. With ingredients like niacinamide, hyaluronic acid and ceramides, this is both a makeup and skincare product, and will create the perfect base for your foundation. Since adding this to my makeup bag, I haven't gone a day without it.
For
- Lots of hydrating skincare ingredients
- Silky soft formula
- Glides onto the skin
- Adds a natural-looking glow and creates the perfect base for foundation
Against
- May be a little too thick for oily skin types
2. Vieve Skin Nova Complexion Balm
Next up is foundation. Now, this product is advertised as a complexion balm, and promises a natural-looking, second-skin finish. It's a little higher coverage than I expected, but this is certainly not a bad thing since I have been experiencing some pesky breakouts as of late. However, if you prefer a lighter base, this might not be the right foundation for you.
I'm always skeptical when it comes to foundations as most formulas cling to my dry skin and end up making my complexion look worse, but similar to the primer, this formula melted into the skin and gave me the most gorgeous, naturally dewy base. Like a lot of Vieve products (as you'll start to see), it's packed with hydrating skincare ingredients to help impart radiance onto thirsty complexions like mine. Another big yes from me.
For
- Hydrating formula
- Easy to blend into the skin
- Offers buildable, medium coverage
Against
- Some may find it a little too high coverage
3. Vieve Modern Radiance Concealer
Anyone else out there with dehydrated skin like mine will know just how difficult it is to find a good concealer. Something I particularly struggle with is finding a concealer that manages to cover my dark circles without clinging to the dry skin under my eyes. However, this product sounded right up my street.
Infused with hyaluronic acid, offering medium to full coverage and delivering a radiant finish, this concealer ticked all the boxes. I applied a small amount to my under eyes and was impressed by how easily it blended into the skin. Yes, I noticed a few creases around my eyes by the end of the day, but apart from that I don't have one single complaint (and that's saying a lot).
For
- Hydrating formula
- Radiant finish
- Good coverage
- Doesn't cling to dry patches
Against
- Can crease a little throughout the day
- Would be nice to see a bigger shade range in the future
4. Vieve Modern Powder Perfector
You're probably sick of hearing about my dry skin by now, but because of this, I don't tend to use that much setting powder when doing my makeup. However, I do like to set my concealer under my eyes and powder my nose so I gave this product from Vieve a go and was pleasantly surprised by how it made my makeup look.
It comes housed in a sleek gold compact with a handy mirror, and the powder itself is velvety soft. When applying it, it didn't feel heavy on my skin, and it gave me more of a natural matte finish rather than a super matte look. I don't think I've ever been truly blown away by a powder, but if you're looking for a new one, then this is a very good choice.
For
- Chic packaging
- Lightweight formula
- Natural matte finish
Against
- Not the best choice for those who like a really matte look
5. Vieve Modern Radiance Cream Bronzer
A product that I do use a lot is a cream bronzer. Although powder bronzers are great for a sunkissed effect, a cream bronzer is an amazing way to add a dewy, naturally bronzed effect to the skin. I've tried a lot of cream bronzers over the years, but this Vieve one has become a firm favourite.
I went for the lightest shade, which added a super subtle hint of colour to the skin. If you want a more sculpted effect, then you might want to go for a deeper option, but I like a "no-makeup" makeup look so this was perfect for me. Similar to the primer, this product melted into my skin and gave me the kind of glow that I thought only a holiday in the sun could do. Squalane and avocado oil make this kind-to-the-skin product a dream to use and I'm now recommending it to everyone I know.
For
- Buttery formula
- Easy to apply
- Buildable colour
Against
- The lighter shades are super subtle so might not be to everyone's taste
6. Vieve Sunset Blush Balm
Now, onto what I think is my favourite Vieve product of all time, the blush balm. Liquid blushers are really having a moment, but I often find the formulas quite hard to use. However, this Vieve one has changed the game for me.
Not only does the packaging make it easy to apply, but the pigmented colour means you only have to dab a small amount onto the skin for juicy cheeks that look naturally flushed and glowing. If you want a bolder look, simply build up the colour and let your blush do all the talking. It really is that foolproof. My favourite colours have to be Cherub, a pretty pink hue, and Rosa, a soft peach shade.
For
- Easy to use
- Buildable colour
- Glowing finish
Against
- Would be nice to see more shades in the future
7. Vieve Power Ink Liner
I'm not big on eyeshadow, but one thing I do love is a good winged eyeliner look. I've used the same liquid eyeliner for years, so I was skeptical that this one would live up to my usual, but as you can probably tell by now, this brand really doesn't disappoint.
This product comes with a super fine nib that makes drawing on your eyeliner easier than ever before. In fact, I think this was the quickest that I'd ever done my eye makeup. I used the black shade and it's super pigmented so my eyeliner was done in five seconds flat. I did forget to apply eye primer the day I was testing so I did find that it smudged a little bit while I was at work, but it's nothing that a good eye primer wouldn't be able to fix.
For
- Super fine tip makes it easy to apply
- Pigmented colour
Against
- Can smudge a little
8. Vieve Modern Mascara
Mascara is a hard thing to get right, as everyone has different preferences. I personally like quite a fluttery effect and this product gave me just that. One thing I will say is that I'm used to using a slightly smaller mascara wand, so I did find this a little harder to apply, but once I got the hang of it I loved the way that it looked.
The formula added natural volume and length without looking clumpy, and what really stood out to me was how long it lasted. Mascara always smudges under my eyes but this did no such thing!
For
- Adds a fluttery effect
- Smudge-proof formula
Against
- Larger wand can make application a little more difficult
- More of a natural finish which might not suit everyone
9. Vieve Modern Lip Definer
Finally, it's onto the lips. I'm quite fussy when it comes to lip liners, as I want something that looks natural yet still defines the shape of my lips, and I also want a formula that lasts throughout the day. I opted for the shade Peach'd, as this was the perfect peachy, pinky hue that made my lips look plumper and fuller.
The creamy formula is infused with jojoba seed oil and vitamin E so it glided onto the skin and gave me that naturally defined finish I was after. It didn't last as long as I hoped it would, but then again, I am yet to find any lip liner that does.
10. Vieve Lip Dew
We included this product in our edit of the best lip oils for a reason. If you like dewy, plump, glowing lips, then you need this in your makeup bag. It's one of the most hydrating, non-sticky formulas I've tried, infused with raspberry seed oil extract and green tea extract.
It looks more like a gloss when you apply it on the lips, and the shade Original adds the most beautiful golden glow. I reach for this in both summer and winter to get my lips looking their best.
For
- Hydrating formula
- Not sticky on the lips
- Adds serious shine
Against
- Can wear off quite quickly
11. Vieve Invisiveil Setting Spray
Once my entire makeup look was done, I made sure to set it in place with Vieve's setting spray. I thought the packaging for this was very aesthetically pleasing, and the slim bottle makes it easy to travel with.
The product itself promises flexible hold, and the formula is alcohol-free and packed with skin-loving ingredients such as niacinamide. I found that this added a subtle hint of radiance to the skin, and I definitely noticed that my makeup lasted longer when wearing this. Plus, the fine mist was easy to apply and didn't feel wet on the skin like other setting sprays. Do you need it in your routine? No. Is it a nice addition for those days when you need things to stay in place a bit better? Absolutely.
For
- Fine mist is easy to apply
- Alcohol-free formula
- Helps makeup stay in place
Against
- Not an essential part of your makeup routine
