No Joke—This New, In-Demand Product Has Made My Hair Look (and Smell) So Expensive

Being a beauty editor means getting your hands on some of the biggest launches before anyone else. Yep, that's right. We are lucky enough to test the best new beauty products in advance so that we can share our honest thoughts with you and help you decide whether you really need something or not.

It may only be January, but I've already had some super exciting products land on my desk, and I've been busy putting some of this year's most in-demand launches through their paces.

One launch that I have been desperate to talk about is a new hair mask—the Gisou Honey Gloss Ceramide Therapy Hair Mask, to be exact. If you didn't know by now, I am a huge fan of Gisou. I've used the brand's hair oil for as long as I can remember, and the honey-infused hair perfume always earns me compliments.

Created by influencer Negin Mirsalehi, Gisou launched in 2015 and took the internet by storm thanks to its unique story and efficacious hair formulas. If you didn't know, Mirsalehi and her father have a bee garden, and each product from the brand contains the family's sustainably sourced honey. Not only does this honey add salon-worthy shine to your hair, but it means that each and every product smells incredible.

I was keen to see if the newest launch would live up to my expectations. So, when the brand asked if I wanted to be one of the first people in the UK to try it, it's needless to say I took them up on their offer. Keep on scrolling for my full review...

The Formula

So, what makes this hair mask special? The answer is in the formula. As expected, the mask contains Mirsalehi honey that works to hydrate and add shine. Alongside this hero ingredient, this mask is packed with ceramides that mimic the ceramides naturally found in your hair. This ingredient helps to strengthen your hair's structure for a smoother appearance.

If that's not enough, it also contains hyaluronic acid and bee garden oils to nourish hair and add a glossy finish. Yep, this mask is sure to quench thirsty ends and bring any dull, lacklustre strands back to life.

What I love about it is that it's essentially an all-in-one treatment for your hair. Usually I would use a hair mask and a hair gloss in order to nourish my ends and add shine, but this does it all for you in one go. Plus, you only have to leave it on for five to seven minutes after shampooing for it to work its magic.

The Scent

In true Gisou style, this product smells incredible. If I had to sum it up in a sentence, I would say that is smells like a really, really expensive hair salon. It has a beautifully fresh, yet rich, aroma that has a hint of sweetness thanks to the addition of the Mirsalehi honey. Plus, the scent lingers for days. Yep, I would have this fragrance in both perfume and candle form if I could.

The Packaging

Okay, we have to talk about the packaging. I always love the way that Gisou products look, and while the original hair mask is super chic, there's something about this new packaging that makes me love this product even more. Designed to look just like a honey pot, this is the kind of hair mask that you'll want proudly on display in your shower—mine is sitting pride of place.

Junior beauty editor Grace Lindsay after using the Gisou hair mask

My hair after using the new Gisou hair mask.

Thanks to years of bleaching and heat styling, my hair can often look quite dry and frazzled. Yes, I use a nourishing hair mask once a week, but I still really struggle to get any sort of shine unless I treat myself to an in-salon treatment. However, after using this Gisou mask, I saw some noticeable changes in my hair.

Not only did my hair smell great for days on end, but it was much softer and easier to style. I dried my hair with my Dyson Airstrait and was really impressed with how smooth it looked compared to normal. Even a few days after washing my hair, my boyfriend commented on how soft my hair felt (and he never usually notices these things).

Although my hair did look a little bit shinier after using this, it still wasn't as effective as an in-salon treatment. However, after pairing it with the Gisou Honey-Infused Hair Oil I couldn't believe how shiny it looked. I will definitely be using this pairing going forward as it made my hair look so expensive.

At £39, this hair mask isn't cheap, but you do get a lot of product and you don't need to use a lot in order to see a difference, so it should last you for quite a while. All in all, if you're looking for one of the best hair masks on the market for soft, smooth, salon-worthy hair, I would add this to the top of your list.
