Moroccanoil's New Eau de Parfum Smells Like an Exotic Vacation, Bottled
I'm someone who has used and loved Moroccanoil products for years, and no one is more excited than me for the brand's newest launch—a fine fragrance version of the brand's iconic scent. TBH, I feel like I manifested it. The brand's Treatment Hair Oil ($48) is a staple in my curly hair routine, and any time I would use it, I found myself wishing for a perfume with the brand's exact citrusy, floral scent. The universe said, "Wish no more—I've got you."
The fragrance is everything I'd hoped it would be and more: clean, luxurious, sophisticated, and downright delicious smelling. It isn't always easy to create an elevated fragrance out of a haircare-product scent, but the brand truly aced it. If you want to snag one for yourself, act fast. This fragrance is such a hit it's bound to sell out. For all my favorite things about it, keep scrolling. I'm sharing it all ahead.
Key notes: lemon, violet, camellia, white sandalwood, musk, muguet, amber, velvet woods, vanilla
My usual scent MO is gourmand. I love a sweet, juicy, fruity, and floral fragrance any day, but occasionally, I do branch out. This one has a lot of variety in the notes, making it slightly hard to place, but it definitely feels more like a warm floral scent to me. Upon first spritz, you definitely get the notes of camellia, lemon, and amber, but as it develops, it dries down into something super exotic. To me, it smells like a low-key and unique fragrance you'd find at a local market in East Asia—exactly the vibe the brand was probably going for.
I've tried many scents at this point in my beauty-writing career, but this has to be one of my favorites. There's a subtly to it, but it's also uplifting, fresh, floral, and a bit juicy with the top note of lemon. While I know $98 isn't exactly cheap for a two-ounce bottle, I will say that this smells like it should be a lot more expensive. I love a luxury scent more than anyone—I may shed a tear or two when it comes to purchasing them, but I'm not opposed to spending money on a scent I truly love. Though, it's nice to know that this particular bottle doesn't, in fact, cost half my monthly rent.
Overall, if you're looking for a unique scent that's airy and smells lightly floral and zesty, this is the one. I've noticed that some brands tend to go overboard when making a fragrance version of their signature scents and end up with something too strong, but this one is perfect. It's present and leaves an impression, but it doesn't overwhelm you at all, which I'm sure people with sensitive noses will appreciate.
Luckily, Moroccanoil infuses all of its products with its iconic scent, so you can double (or triple!) up on the scent. A few of my other faves from the brand are below.
More of My Moroccanoil Favorites
I'm usually pretty picky about my body oils, but this one passes the test. It doesn't leave you greasy but is still hydrating with a host of oils, including avocado, argan, and olive. It also smells delicious without being too much.
Complete your shower routine with this luxe cleansing gel. There are a few different scents to choose from.
Frizz is my middle name, and it's so hard to find products that actually do something for it. This spray works quickly, is great for humidity, and gives your hair extra shine.
This deep-conditioning mask is perfect for thick, dry, curly hair like mine. It's so moisturizing, provides a lot of slip, and leaves my curls so springy.
