As a beauty editor who has an obsession with fragrance, I've tried a lot of perfumes during my 10 years as a beauty journalist. I don't wear fragrance for the sole purpose of getting compliments, however, I would be lying if I said I don't enjoy it when someone notices my perfume. It's always nice to get complimented on a fragrance, and lately, there is one scent that I've been getting compliments on left, right and centre—and that's Glossier You.
Launched in 2017, Glossier You launched as a 'skin scent enhancer', which is designed to work with your natural skin chemistry (the scent's tagline is that it needs 'you' to complete it, and even the bottle comes with a fingerprint indent that your thumb snugly fits) so it smells a little different on everyone. Because of this, it smells totally unique on your skin while retaining it's much-loved DNA of cosy and musky ambrox, creamy and subtly sweet ambrette seeds and floral, powdery iris with sparkling pink pepper. In a word, it's heavenly. And I can see why it gets the compliments that it does when people wear it.
Glossier recently launched two new You sisters, You Rêve and You Doux, which each offer a slightly different interpretation of the original scent which has now become a modern icon. The three scents have fast become favourites amongst the Who What Wear UK team, with some touting it as their most-complimented fragrance, ever. Glossier You
Key notes: Pink pepper, iris, ambrette seeds, ambrox
The original Glossier You is the ultimate skin scent. It was originally designed to become one with your natural skin chemistry (think you, but even better) and you'll see this in notes, too. None of the four notes take centre stage here, instead they all play a supporting role in the background to compliment one another and your skin.
I'd describe the scent as cosy, musky and uplifting. It has a creamy musk and subtle sweetness to it that makes you feel like you're bundled in fluffy cashmere that you've hand-washed with expensive laundry softener. It has a slight floral powdery-ness to it thanks to iris, but don't worry it doesn't veer into nana territory, and the pink pepper gives it a sparkling cloud of spice that brings it all together.

Glossier You Rêve
Key notes: Buttercream, plum butter, toasted almond, iris, sandalwood, ambrox, ambrette
Featuring the same DNA as the original Glossier You, You Rêve has an edible, good-enough-to-eat gourmand twist. Think vanillic buttercream, fruity plum butter and toasted almonds. It's not overly sweet and comes across more nutty than plummy on my skin. It's more indulgent than the original Glossier You but retains the same creamy cosiness with the ambrox and ambrette. If you like the original and you also like sweet scents, this is definitely a must try.

"I love sweet, gourmand scents and this particular perfume opens with notes of buttercream and plum butter. However, toasted almond, musk and sandalwood help to keep the fragrance grounded, meaning it's not sickly or overpowering in any way."

Glossier You Doux
Key notes: Sweet violet, palo santo, frankincense, myrrh, ambrette, ambrox
Glossier You Doux sees the original scent with a woody, resinous twist that manages to remain airy and light. The sweet violet note makes the initial spritz airy and powdery, and it soon settles into a woody and subtly smokey palo santo and frankincense, with a swirl of warming myrrh that unfurls on the skin. It perfectly complements the creaminess and musky ambrette and ambrox that punctuate the perfume.
Editor review: Out of the three Glossier scents, You Doux might just be my favourite. I adore woody scents, so the addition of palo santo and frankincense to the signature creamy ambrette and ambrox combo is a winner for me. It's airy, a little smokey and spicy while remaining clean-smelling thanks to a cloud of sweet violet which keeps it airy and fresh. I'd say it's a little more understated than the original Glossier You (I find the projection of this one to be more subtle than Glossier You) and I've been reaching this on my office days when I want something warm, woody and intimate that won't overpower my senses.
