The 7 Simple Items I Routinely Wear to Look Chic
While I wear a range of items in my day-to-day (although more loungewear currently), there are a few specific pieces I typically wear that are simple yet incredibly chic (at least in my eyes). Basically, when I pair said items with other standard basics in my wardrobe, I like to think I create chic outfits that could (and sometimes do) get noticed by my inner circle for their sleekness.
Naturally, I'm here to share these seven pieces in question with you in case you're interested in trying at some point. What you'll also find below is some inspirational imagery as well. So if you too already wear the simple items I love (even if you're not wearing them as much right now), you can perhaps find some fresh outfit inspo to save for later.
1. Moto Jacket
To me, a moto jacket is one of the ultimate staples. I invested in my first AllSaints silhouette when I lived in NYC and continue wearing the style as my topper of choice today. You can literally throw one on over just about anything for that effortless-cool vibe.
2. Black Straight-Leg/Skinny Jeans
I personally think black straight-leg or skinny jeans are a staple—especially for those chic all-black looks.
3. Sharp Tailoring
Modern suiting (slouchier blazers included) bring that easy, polished feel to any ensemble. I like to pair tailored pieces with unexpected items for a forward silhouette. Case in point? A blazer with a hoodie and leggings like this ensemble here.
4. Flat Boots
Hey, it's me. I'm all about flat black boots or lower-heeled ankle boots to bring a tough yet elevated spin to my looks. I also love the practical nature of this shoe silhouette.
5. Statement Sunglasses
The perfect finishing touch to any chic look is an eye-catching pair of sunglasses. While the classics are always a safe bet, those shapes that push it just a bit (think oversize or angular cat-eye) are where it's at.
6. Black Crossbody Bag
To me, a black crossbody bag is a top staple for the functionality (all about the hands-free life), versatility (can be paired with anything), and all-around sleekness. I'm especially into those classic styles with a twist featuring interesting chain details or that come in an offbeat shape for a fashion-forward feel.
7. Leather Separates
Leather pieces continue to trend hard, and for me, they're definitely a staple to get that cool look. I'm talking about edgy leather trousers, fresh shirting, and the like.
