How would you define a fashion girl? For us, it’s someone who truly is aware of her personal style, pinpoints trends by subtly incorporating them into her wardrobe, and can give sage style advice. It girl Gala Gonzalez embodies all of the above, and we’ve turned to the influencer for wisdom since the very beginning of her career. Autumn trends arguably are some of the most exciting of all, so we asked you earlier in August which fall trends you’re most looking forward to. Well, we heard you, and now Gonzalez is showing you ways to get the look with some of her key picks from Bloomingdale’s.

Velvet, possibly the season’s most sought-after trend, will be that key fabric you see everywhere. But to avoid overdoing it, implement it in small doses. According to Gonzalez, you “shouldn’t stay away from the trend because it may be a thicker fabric; try it with accessories like shoes or pants.”
Gonzalez styles velvet with a more classic piece, balancing her outfit and keeping it from being overly trendy.
Wine-hued velvet pants are an ideal way to test the waters, and they won’t have you looking overly trendy.
The hue of these velvet jeans will work with a black button-down, similar to the way Gala styled it here. Pair the look with a necklace and you’re good to go.
If you’re not ready for colored velvet yet, opt for a darker pair of pants. You'll still be on trend, and your look will have some extra texture.
When you’re ready for an allover velvet look for fall, try a velvet burnout dress for a night out.
It’s no secret that jeans are a fashion-girl staple. Gonzalez’s tip for keeping your look fresh? “Try wearing two or three denim pieces in one outfit, or pair fun cropped flares with boots.”
Polish your denim look with a complementary jacket. Gonzalez’s advice is to “mix similar fabrics to create a layering effect; try to find jumpers in similar colors to pair with the coats.” She adds, “My style secret for this is leaving the jacket open so it almost feels like an inner linen fabric inside of the coat.”
A released hem is the statement maker on these jeans. Look for fun details when you’re out picking your jeans this season. Plus, the effortless look is very Gonzalez.
A classic peacoat is always a great jacket to pair with jeans. Style it over your shoulders like Gonzalez did.
The clean silhouette of these jeans complements the released-hem detail perfectly.
Rather than going for black boots, pair your jacket-and-jeans look with olive-colored lace-up booties. It’ll add interest to your outfit.

While she does love writing her fair share of fashion stories, her heart really belongs in the brainstorm room, where she has fun strategizing different ways to create content with our fashion partners so that you engage with the brands you know and love. Her style tends to be more classic (she loves a good black-and-white look with gold accessories), and white pumps are kind of her thing. If she had to pick one person's wardrobe to raid, it would be Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's, and she also has a major obsession with interior design. She's a mom to a 1-year-old baby girl named Sophie, and she fully plans on training her to spot fashion trends by the time she's 10. That's all!
