The Most Expensive-Looking Knit on the High Street Just Arrived
There are a lot of jumpers out there to choose from when shopping for your winter wardrobe this year, especially if you’re looking for knits on the high street. Some, however, are better than others, and there’s one particular knit that the whole Who What Wear team (and the fashion world in general) has been hoping would come back in stock for 2023 since it repeatedly sold out last winter. Arket’s cable-knit wool jumper first launched a few years ago and sold out within just days of it landing online, probably thanks to the fact that an army of influential fashion people jumped on it so quickly and then proceeded to share it all over the internet.
We missed out last year, and since it’s such a timeless knit, it's no surprise we’ve seen it worn repeatedly by the lucky people who managed to get their hands on one ever since. The torment was real. But this week, our wardrobe prayers were answered—just in time for this cold front we’re having—because not only is this knit back in a grey shade, but Arket has doubled down on their range of cable-knit jumpers to satisfy our needs. Apparently the high-street retailer, which is known in the industry for doing these kind of minimalistic, elevated wardrobe staples so well, cottoned on to the fact that the waiting list for this jumper was incredibly long.

So what’s so special about it, you ask? Well, just look at it. There’s something about the chunky pattern, slouchy but sophisticated shape and perfect soft grey colour that makes it the *perfect* cable-knit jumper. It’s a bit of an investment, sitting at just under £100—but you’re paying for quality (something that’s important to consider when shopping on the high street) since it’s made from Responsible Wool Standard–certified wool. Plus, it looks like it could easily sit alongside some of the best designer knits on Net-a-Porter with price tags three times that.
The crew-neck style has been a long-time favourite, but just this week a new roll-neck cable-knit was introduced and suffice to say, it's giving tough competition to the OG sweater. We have a feeling that this camel-coloured, super-chunky jumper might be on the list of many an editor over the Christmas period. A little more expensive than the previous It knit, but it does have extra volume in the sleeves, a roll-neck and a more complicated cable pattern. It also comes in navy and black, but we have a hunch on this 'quiet luxury' hue selling out first.

I love this cosy grey knit. I'd pair it with leather trousers and ankle boots for a put-together cold-weather 'fit.
Arket bring this style out every year, and for good reason. Soft, comfy and well priced, it's a winner.

The sleeves! The ribbed neck! The seams! This has it all going on.
Eileen Fisher's level of quality is something to behold.
I would always recommend buying Uniqlo men's knitwear in a size up or two—they always look chicer. This style comes in so many great colours.
It's also worth looking out on Amazon for niche brands that specialise in these kinds of traditional or technical items.
Adore the chestnut brown of this vintage-feel style from Dôen.
