6 Summer Trends That Have Anna Wintour's Approval (and 2 That Don't)
It's no secret that the inimitable editor in chief of Vogue is highly discerning and her opinion is one of the most highly regarded in all of the fashion industry. So when it comes to the summer trends Anna Wintour is wearing, there are only a few that have earned a coveted spot in her own wardrobe (and therefore, her definitive approval). So before we dive into the styles she's worn during summers past, we're also pointing out two current trends we're positive she'd give a hard pass to simply because they're outside of her edited personal style.
Summer trends she wouldn't recommend:
Thong sandals and sweetheart necklines
Wintour's style is consistently classic and refined, which means she's pretty selective about the trends she participates in and which ones she passes on. For years, she's worn strappy nude sandals during the warmer months, so we have a feeling she won't be venturing into the heeled-thong category this summer, despite the fact that the trend is everywhere. The same goes for with sweetheart necklines, which she's likely passing on in favor of sleeker square and asymmetric ones.
Summer trends she approves of:
1. Naked Sandals
For as far back as our image research has taken us, we've seen Wintour wearing the nude-colored strappy sandals that happen to be trending hard this summer, which only proves they're a timeless pick.
Shop naked sandals:
2. Puff Sleeves & 3. Espadrilles
Wintour's wardrobe hardly overlaps with French girls', but espadrilles and puffed sleeves are the only two exceptions. While everyone in Paris is sure to wear espadrille wedges, Wintour is a fan of the flat style. As for her dress, well, we're breathing a sigh of relief because we definitely bought into the voluminous-sleeve trend last summer.
Shop puff-sleeved pieces:
Shop espadrilles:
4. Asymmetric One-Shoulders
One-shoulder tops and dresses are the reinvented wardrobe basics that are poised to take over this summer, and Wintour was all over the look back in the '90s, wearing a sleek black dress with an asymmetric neckline.
Shop asymmetric necklines:
5. White Blazers
Everyone loves a good blazer, Wintour very much included. Her crisp white version is one we're starting to see on more and more fashion girls as we head into summer, and something about the fresh color on the classic shape just feels right.
Shop white blazers:
6. Highlighter Hues
You didn't think Wintour would pass up on the neon color trend, did you? It turns out that she was testing out the bright color palette all the way back in the '90s, and naturally, she took a very polished approach.
