Most of us have two main goals when it comes to figuring out what to wear to the airport: finding something that's comfortable and will get you through security quickly. We've broken down airport style in a slew of different ways here at Who What Wear, from what TSA recommends not wearing to the travel basics everyone should own, so it's safe to say we've written about a wide variety of travel outfits. However, Amal Clooney still managed to surprise us with her latest airport look.

Photographed at the airport in Rome, Italy, Clooney wore a head-to-toe designer ensemble, including an Alberta Ferretti Crocheted Virgin Wool Eyelet Minidress ($1750) and Suede Over-the-Knee Boots ($1295). Her '70s vibe is definitely chic and on trend, but I couldn't help but notice that over-the-knee boots seem quite impractical for traveling. Have you ever gone to the airport in over-the-knee boots? A quick poll around the Who What Wear office yielded a resounding no. Not only would they be more difficult to slide on and off for TSA, but their unwieldy size could also prove difficult when trying to squeeze them into a bin. Clooney can certainly do her thing—and do it stylishly—but perhaps we'll be copying this outfit when we don't have a plane to catch. Scroll down to see her outfit and to shop similar pieces.

Associate Director, Fashion News

Erin got her start as a Who What Wear intern over 13 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of Associate Director of Fashion News (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
