Has Balenciaga Found Its Replacement for Alexander Wang?
When we saw the news Alexander Wang would not be renewing his contract with Balenciaga after three short years, we cried into our City Bags.
The exact reasoning for Wang’s departure has never been confirmed, however WWD reported earlier this year that he wanted to leave to focus on his namesake line. We’re okay with that though, because who doesn’t love Alexander Wang? Wang took his final bow for Balenciaga earlier today when he presented his final contribution to the label—the S/S 16 show in Paris.
But with Paris Fashion Week coming to a close, and the rumour mill having worked over-time during the S/S 16 fashion circuit, The NY Times is reporting that an announcement for his replacement is imminent.
While successor is still unknown, but we can confirm Chitose Abethe of Sacai, Julien Dossena of Paco Rabanne and Bouchra Jarrar who designs her own ready-to-wear and haute couture collections, are all rumoured to be in consideration.
So we can relax a little. It sounds like we don’t have to wait too much longer to find out who will be at the helm of one of our favourite designer labels.
