Many brands are dedicated to creating this one thing alone, as you know, but now a key style comes from a source we hadn't expected: Alexander McQueen. We associate the British fashion house with impeccable tailoring, ethereal couture gowns and sky-high heels; it's the kind of label that provides a true fashion fantasia, so to hear it can lay claim to a chic everyday trainer that keeps selling out, we pay attention.

The Oversized Sneakers first came to life as a menswear phenomenon. Introduced for S/S 15, the style was so popular after being showcased on the men's runway that the team at Alexander McQueen HQ took a risk and ran with the idea for the women's department, too. Now in its fourth season, the chunky, thick-soled lace-ups are arriving in different iterations galore: glittered, contrast-soled, slip-on, Velcro, charm-embellished, hand-embroidered…

As and when the kicks sell out (which we hear happens often), Alexander McQueen does operate a waiting-list system as well as replenishing stock wherever possible. Why so popular? Well, excellent craftsmanship and high-fashion kudos combined with a silhouette that provides comfort (as well as a clever little lift) certainly contribute to this sneakers' It status.
