Alexa Chung Just Wore the Flat Shoes You Can Get Everywhere From The Row to Zara
So far, this August has proven to be a tricky month to dress for. On a good day, the heat of the morning sun barley touches our skin before gleaming down at midday and swiftly retracting come early evening. On a bad day, we're sheltering from heavy downpours at regular intervals, unable to leave the house without a sturdy umbrella to hand. This confusing combination has rendered many of our favourite summer outfits unwearable, particularly our summer shoes.
Brit girls are now familiar with this unfortunate dressing dilemma, and we've adapted our collections of flat shoes to withstand a summer in the UK. It helps to have a little help from style icons as inspiration; and Alexa Chung's recent outfits have proven the perfect template for late-summer dressing. Alexa was spotted in London's Notting Hill yesterday wearing the flat-shoe trend we've been eyeing up from luxury and high-street brands alike. Mary jane flats have enjoyed a renaissance over the past few months, with brands such as The Row, ARKET, Zara and Alaia all offering up tempting renderings.
On Alexa Chung: Loewe Paula's Ibiza Medium Logo Raffia Tote Bag (£1100), Le Monde Beryl Mary Jane (£425)
Alexa, who has been known to favour a particular pair of black mary janes from Miu Miu, yesterday opted for a tiger-print style with a silver buckle strap and round toe. Her chosen pair are from Le Monde Beryl, a shoe brand that specialises in expertly crafted flats inspired by Venetian gondoliers' shoes and Moroccan slippers.
Chung styled the shoe of the season with loose-fitting jeans and an oversized button-down shirt. We've seen the oversized shirt a lot over the last few days, as celebrities such as Gigi Hadid and Katie Holmes styled this simple piece with baggy trousers and casual accessories for easy weekend outfits. Completing the look, she reached for a Loewe raffia bag (aka the Loewe bag of the moment) and black sunglasses, as a final nod to end of the summer months.
You might already have the components of this easy outfit in your wardrobe, but if you don't, you can shop Alexa Chung's latest look below.
