7 Ageless Styling Tricks I'm Trying This Spring
I've never been all that concerned with aging. I was brought up to see it as a privilege. As such, milestone birthdays have come and gone, and I haven't batted an eyelid.
That being said, the last thing I want is to wake up one day and realize my sense of style has changed. I firmly believe that you can wear whatever you please, at whatever age you please. Still, even I have found myself gravitating away from more directional pieces and, instead, leaning very much into the modest way of dressing. Not that I mind—I've always preferred midi and long-sleeve dresses to the mini, short-sleeve variety, but I certainly don't want to look older than I am.
So to stop my wardrobe from inadvertently aging me, I set out to find ageless spring styling tips. Naturally, I turned to Instagram, where I would see countless looks that do just that. Keep scrolling to check out my tricks, and to shop pieces, I'll rely on in the spring for their timeless appeal.
STYLE A TRENCH AS A DRESS
Who needs trousers when a trench looks this chic worn as a dress? We love how Renata has elevated this look to chic new heights with the addition of a camel roll-neck.
DON DIRECTIONAL DENIM
If like me, you're growing tired of your basic denim, then there's plenty of avant-garde interpretations of the fabric on offer this spring, all of which will make your outfits look interesting and less dowdy (read: more youthful).
COLLECT RETRO TEES
The printed T-shirt trend might have quietened over the last year, but we think it's poised to make a comeback by the way of retro motifs and slogans. Pair with pair trousers and pointed shoes like Tamu for ageless appeal.
WEAR WHITE BOOTS
Black ankle-grazers are all well and good, but as we transition into spring, swap them out for cool white boots to give your entire look a bit of youthful edge.
EMBRACE BRIGHT SUITING
Grey tones belong in winter. Instead, for spring, embrace bright hues that look fresh, and will make you feel more confident. And we all know confidence makes you look your best.
PICK FLORAL KNITWEAR
Okay, so they might resemble something your granny would have worn, but that's exactly why they look youthful. Daring dressers aren't afraid to wear "old" fashion trends. As long as you pair them with contemporary separates, they'll take years off your style.
PLAY WITH HAIR ACCESSORIES
Barrettes, scrunchies, and headbands are having a moment. Given their connotations with school attire, it's little wonder that they bestow their wearer with a youthful aura.
