Over the years, my mom and I have had many clothing-related disagreements. When I was entering high school, I became obsessed with cutting up my shirts. I would stretch them out and add random cutouts, and this process would always involve a very basic school T-shirt. My mom warned me not to fall into the trap that was this trend, and she was completely right. Usually, when I'm all over a trend and my mom is on the fence, this means the trend will make its way in and out of my closet very quickly. Moms just know that kind of thing.

I've decided to finally give in and let my mom have her say about my fall shopping list. I'm considering several items and really need to narrow things down, but I want to be sure that the pieces that I choose will be timeless and worth the investment. I showed my mom about 40 things, and we agreed upon the 29 items below—enjoy.
