12 Affordable Items Our Editors Are Wearing to the Office This Winter
Here at Who What Wear UK, we don’t play into the outdated notion that outfit repeating is a fashion faux pas. In fact, we’re quite proud of the purchases we make and wear time and time again. Personally, I’ve always believed your love for a particular wardrobe item can usually be deduced based on its cost per wear. For example, if I buy something for £30 and wear it 30 times, it is reasonable to assume that it was probably an infinitely better purchase than something I buy for £50 and wear it twice. (And before you ask, wedding gowns and formal dresses are obviously exempt from this mathematical equation.)
As far as office attire goes, there are a few items each editor keeps in our rotation, which we rely on week after week for easy workday outfits. Whether it be a midi skirt, cosy jumper or a comfy, wear-with-anything pair of jeans, these items act as our styling secret weapons that we know we can just throw on and go.
Luckily many of the items we love can actually be found at your favourite high-street retailers, meaning they're are not only accessible but are also reasonably affordable. You can thank us later!
So from Nell's perfect white tee to Emma's beloved ballerina pumps, and everything in between, here are the 12 affordable items we can't stop wearing to the office this winter.
"I got this Topshop skirt last November because I knew I'd get a ton of wear out of it. Midi skirts are like jeans to me, easy to style for a day in the office with a jumper (like pictured) but equally easy to take from day to night with a square-neckline body and heels. I wear both these high-street items at least twice a week and will be getting as much wear out of them going into spring as I can."

"I've been pining after ruffled-collar blouses for a good few months now, as they have the sort of vintage appeal I always crave in my style. I couldn't quite afford the Ganni iteration, so I had been holding off to find the perfect high-street style and after missing out on the Zara one, I finally found this winning ASOS blouse, which ticks all the boxes. With a statement collar, puff sleeves and bow-tie detail on the back to give shape (if desired). I'll be wearing mine under my Sezane cardi all winter long."

"I wear this oversized white shirt from Mango season in, season out; it’s the ideal office throw-on. At this time of year, when it’s a little colder, I like to roll up the sleeves and layer it with thin knits and t-shirts to inject a bit of ‘cool’ into my work wardrobe. However, what I’m most obsessed with this season is these wide-leg trousers from H&M. I’m not usually a dogtooth (or pattern, for that matter) person, but these trousers are just so wearable I couldn’t pass them by. They’re thick and comfortable, which is key when I’m choosing my outfit on cold, winter mornings, and they look just as great with a pair of trainers as they do heeled boots."

"Finding a perfectly fitting pair of jeans is honestly like finding a needle in a haystack, which is why I knew I had to buy these Mango bootleg jeans as soon as I tried them on. They have been a lifesaver this winter, as I wear them to the office at least once a week. This Topshop jumper is also the perfect basic, which I rely on time and time again."

"I've had this T-shirt for almost four years and still wear it so regularly. It's the perfect base item for sleek workday outfits, as I love how it sits perfectly under a blazer and jeans."

"These M&S pumps are so comfortable I own two pairs, but I'm thinking of adding another colour to my collection. I alternate between my cream and black pair, and I've been wearing them a lot in January when I want to wear something smarter than the hiking boots I've been living in. This H&M belted denim jacket is one of my best-ever high-street finds—the dark indigo wash and stiff denim, makes it look so much more expensive."

"I wear this pink Kitri coat when I want to brighten up my winter outfits—I removed the fur collar to make it feel a little less 'extra' for every day in the office."
