6 Under-£60 Fashion Items I've Worn More Than Anything Else in My 20s
I know your 20s are supposed to be about experimenting with crazy fashions and jumping on all the latest trends, but for me, it's been a steady process of refinement and editing. Of course, I've definitely worn a few questionable looks over the last seven years, but working in fashion has meant that perhaps more so than others, I've had time to think about what my style identity is and what pieces actually suit me.
As it turns out, it's not the designer one-offs that were painstakingly saved for that have brought me the most joy over the years. Instead, it's affordable grab-and-go basics. When it comes to my wardrobe, I've come to realise that I like to feel relatively polished in the way I dress, but in my opinion, that doesn't have to mean high-maintenance. Whether it's a tailored piece or elevating accessory, I'm always on the lookout for easy-to-wear items that pack plenty of fashion kudos with maximum versatility.
So here are the six staples I've worn on repeat throughout my 20s. They're all under £60 and come with my tried-and-tested stamp of approval. Scroll down to see what made my shortlist.
Tailored Trousers
Over the last few years, I've realised that high-waisted, wide-leg trousers are one of the most flattering things you can own. Jeans are great, but it can be harder to find that perfect fit. I wear this old Topshop pair with everything from white tees to chunky knits.

Little Scarfs
Sometimes, it's the small things that make all the difference, and in my experience, this is certainly the case with neckties. Whether it's a paisley-print neckerchief or skinny silk scarf, they're a cheap and easy way to add personality to any outfit.

Roll-Necks
It can be tricky (particularly during winter) to not compromise your style in order to match the weather conditions. That's where roll-necks come in. Chuck one under a dress, layer it beneath a white shirt or wear it alone with jeans. This is one purchase I've never regretted.

Hoop Earrings
I'm not a huge jewellery person, but there's one item I can't live without, and that's hoop earrings. I wear a pair from & Other Stories every day, as they add a subtle finishing tough to whatever I'm wearing. I also think they make all kind of other basics look more polished, whether it's a white shirt or blazer.

Jumpsuits
The jumpsuit is the ultimate grab-and-go wardrobe wonder. Choose yours wisely and you'll wear it constantly for both formal and day-to-day wear. This corduroy number is on the more extroverted end of the spectrum, but it took less than 30 seconds to style. What more could you want?

White T-Shirts
Okay, I know you don't need to be told that white T-shirts are essential for your wardrobe, but I honestly couldn't live without mine—they're the canvas for some of my most statement-making outfits. They're just what I need to temper a pair of leather trousers or balance out a colour-pop coat.
