So Adidas Just Created High-Tech Sneakers Using Light and Oxygen
The future of sneakers is here. Adidas has unveiled its newest shoes, and they're remarkably high-tech. The brand describes the new Futurecraft 4D as "the world’s first high performance running shoe featuring midsoles crafted with light and oxygen using Digital Light Synthesis." Intrigued? So are we.
The press release explains the technology behind the new sneakers: "Designed based on the brand’s extensive library of athlete running data and crafted with Carbon’s Digital Light Synthesis technology, the Futurecraft 4D midsole is a single component featuring precisely engineered zones that address different needs of running such as propulsion, cushioning, stability, and comfort." Oh, and did we mention they look chic too?
The shoes are $300 and are only available at three New York City stores: Kith, Packer Shoes, and Sneakersnstuff. However, Adidas's website allows you to sign up to receive updates on future launches. Are you dying to get your hands on them? Scroll down to get a close-up look at the new sneakers.
Erin got her start as a Who What Wear intern over 13 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of Associate Director of Fashion News (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
