The Internet's Hype Queen Shares Her Energizing Morning Routine
What's the first thing you do when you get out of bed in the morning? If you follow our Instagram, chances are you’re already familiar with Achieng Agutu, the social media personality and creator behind her popular account, @noordinarynoire. Achieng considers herself to be the "tantalizing confidence queen” and her posts often serve as a way to empower and hype up her followers, reminding them that they have an Internet bestie in their corner.
With her infectious personality and highly-positive and sharable content, it's no surprise that Achieng's follower growth has skyrocketed within the last year. 8:30 A.M.
The key to a productive morning for me is to set myself up for success the previous night! I'll have my bathrobe laid out, my skincare products ready to go, and a full glass of water next to me.
I’ll even queue up my wake-up call song, which is currently, Baby Tate's I Am ft. Flo Mili on my Google Home. It's a soft, sweet, and intentional way to start the day.
It’s not every day that I get to wake up in my cozy bed, since I tend to travel a lot. When I'm home, my day starts out at 8:30 a.m, but to be honest, I'll snooze until around 9 a.m., where I'll count down to three and float out of bed.
9:15 A.M.
After spending about 15 minutes to fully wake up, I'll head to the bathroom to shower, brush my teeth and get into one of my favorite parts of my day: my skincare routine! Ohhhhh, let the magic begin!
9:35 A.M.
I'll start by cleansing my face using La Mer The Cleansing Foam, before moving to a crucial step, LED! I love making a ritual out of using my Dr. Dennis Gross DRX Spectralite Faceware Pro.
Today, I will be exfoliating with Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant, then I'll take my time to put on my favorite eye treatment, Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Eye Cream, and my serum, Biossance Squalane + Copper Peptide Serum.
I'll then go in with Face Gym Pure Lift Face to depuff and contour (it's like a gua sha 2.0!), before finishing up my routine with my favorite moisturizer from Fenty Skin, the Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturizer, which already has SPF in it!
10:30 A.M.
Gorgeous, gorgeous girls drink smoothies for breakfast! Smoothie girls and the baddest babes to ever walk this planet! I am a gorgeous girl haha!
Sometimes, I find it hard to sit down and have breakfast. I am a girl on the go, so smoothies make it easier for me to have something filling and delicious. I love the variety of Daily Harvest smoothies and today, I am having a mixed berry one. I'll add coconut water and agave nectar to sweeten it a little. To accompany my smoothie, I'll either have ready-made mini or cinnamon pancakes from Trader Joe’s.
While my smoothie blends and my pancakes are in the toaster, I'll make time for a dance break. On today’s playlist, we have Celia Cruz's Quimbara.
11:45 A.M.
When it comes to work and how I present myself on social media, I like to think of myself as the perfect mix of Beyoncé and Bill Nye The Science Guy — an all-around queen, creative and pure genius! I'll grab my laptop and find a cozy spot in the house to read and respond to my emails, touch base with my team, and plan my content for the day.
