I’m Updating My Wardrobe for Spring With These Chic ‘90s Basics
Our love for '90s fashion knows no bounds here at Who What Wear, which is why we were all ecstatic when we saw a whole host of nineties silhouettes and minimalist styles all over the S/S 24 runways. From column skirts to gray tailoring, relaxed straight-leg jeans, slip dresses, and boat-neck silhouettes, designers such as Proenza Schouler, Gucci, and Staud brought fresh iterations to minimalist '90s silhouettes. Below, I'm sharing nine wearable '90s styles that we've taken from the runways and can't wait to translate them into our own wardrobes this spring and summer. Understated and cool, expect to see these discreet-chic pieces all over the fashion set this warm-weather season.
Relaxed Straight-Leg Jeans
While we're not getting rid of our wide-leg jeans anytime soon, it's the relaxed straight-leg styles we're drawn to this season, that are giving '90s Cindy Crawford vibes. The best part is how versatile they are—easy to wear with flats and heels alike.

Column Skirt
Sleek knee-length pencil skirts, and maxis were spotted all over the runways, leaning into the understated-chic '90s trend. Pair one with a sleeveless turtleneck and minimalist kitten-heels for a chic spring look.

Gray Tailoring
Nothing leans into '90s style quite like gray tailored pieces. For a modern look opt for a fitted blazer and straight-leg trousers. Every shade of gray is fair game!

'90s Shoulder Bags
Sometimes, the simplest things in life are the most impactful, and designers took this philosophy to heart, leaning into pared-back, minimalist '90s shoulder bags. Versatile and easy to wear day or night, these are the kind of bags that will never go out of style.

Boat Neck Tank Tops
Tank tops with bateau-style necklines and square-neck silhouettes are synonymous with '90s style, and have been the dominating style on the fashion set these past few seasons. Its reign is set to continue this spring/summer, adding an elegant touch to everyday outfits.

Barely-There Sandals
Sleek, barely-there sandals were spotted all over the S/S 24 runways, and are guaranteed to be the shoe of choice among the fashion set this summer. Whether you go for sleek kitten heels or single strap mules, the minimalist silhouettes ooze cool '90s style.
