A little over a year ago, I was lucky enough to join two brands I've long admired—Nike and Kallmeyer—on a trip to Indianapolis for WNBA All-Star Weekend, where the latter hosted one of its signature Café Kallmeyer soirées to celebrate women's sports, and did so with the support of a giant of the sports world, one that's consistently supported women, whether that's their athletes or a little girl on a field or court somewhere. Together, they created a haven amidst the chaos of the WNBA's biggest weekend (during the league's biggest, most popular year to date), spurring conversations and bringing people together from both sports and fashion to connect.

"As you know, our relationship with Nike has been a very organic one," Danielle Kallmeyer, the founder of Kallmeyer, explains as she juggles both this launch and the upcoming debut of her spring/summer 2027 collection. "I was introduced to women's basketball several years ago, and not only fell in love with the game, but fell in love with the community that surrounds it," she says. "The way that a diverse community really rallies around supporting women, women of excellence, gender equality, pay equality—all the themes that mean so much to us." As a result of entering this fandom, Kallmeyer was able to meet and become friends with both athletes and creatives in the sports ecosystem, taking her from a mere spectator and appreciator of the game into something bigger. Eventually, a relationship with Nike was born.

But Café Kallmeyer in Indianapolis was just the beginning. Today, their impactful partnership entered its sophomore year, and this time, it's all about tennis.

On Tuesday, the morning of the Women's Singles Quarterfinals, Kallmeyer and Nike dropped a reimagined take on an iconic Nike Centre silhouette, adding a look of understated elegance and sophistication to the style through Kallmeyer's distinct perspective. "Through Kallmeyer's lens, the Nike Centre is transformed into an understated lifestyle expression, elevated through tonal neutrals, rich textures, and thoughtfully considered details," a press release from the brands states. The idea was to design something that felt as multidimensional as tennis has become—a sport that lives at the intersection of sports, culture, and fashion. "The collaboration reflects how today's athletes and creatives move seamlessly between sport, fashion, and culture," the release continues.

Like the first collection, this second go stems from Kallmeyer's experience as a fan. "I was fortunate enough to be at Amanda [Anisimova]'s match at the last US Open, which was part of my early obsession with tennis and the [tournament], she explains. "She's such an incredible fighter and an amazing player, and is so entertaining to watch." A year later, the designer tapped Anisimova, as well as Salon 94's Jeanne Greenberg, to star in her second campaign with Nike. "It was such an exciting honor to be able to shoot her, especially with an icon like Collier Schorr, and then to have someone who I've admired from the art world, Jeanne Greenberg, be part of this campaign as well, really tells this full-circle story of how fashion and culture inform sports, and how sports inform fashion and culture," Kallmeyer says.

The timing of the launch is perfect, too. "I also love tennis, particularly the US Open, because it really does feel like the end of summer overlaps with [New York] Fashion Week, which really feels like the beginning of fall," Kallmeyer says. "It feels like this amazing convergence of seasons at such an exciting time." And who knows, perhaps we'll see a pair of the new Nike Centre x Kallmeyer sneakers on the runway at the show next week. At the least, I'd be willing to bet that a few pairs will be spotted on the streets of New York outside of shows.

You know what they say: New season, new beauty routine! While I don't completely overhaul my entire regimen (a brown mascara and rosy-mauve lip liner will always be my failsafes), I do make a few strategic swaps for the sake of my already cluttered makeup bag. Give us a peek into your world. What does a typical day in your life look like right now?

I wake up with the sun. We keep our curtains open, and I think it's best for the body and mind. The morning always starts with checking my WhatsApp and emails from Europe and NYC for anything urgent. Then goes to a straight hour of kid cuddles, food, and family time. Usually, a few more emails get sent, and from there, [it's] school and a day's work—unless it's the weekend and we go into pool mode and play!

You've built a career around having a very distinct eye. Looking back, where do you think that taste came from? Were you always someone who cared deeply about clothes and how things were put together?

My taste, for certain, comes from my upbringing in Washington, DC. I had this duality of an incredibly proper influence and my skater friends on the edge that made both worlds become one for me. My taste is always classic and chic but cool.

You work with women who each have such distinct personal styles. When you begin working with a client, how do you figure out what their fashion language is rather than simply imposing your own?

That comes from us talking, having creative conversations about the art of clothing before we start, and then getting to know each other and what makes us swoon. I always build off of them as my inspiration.

We're living in an era where a celebrity outfit can be photographed, posted, dissected, and turned into a trend within hours. How much—if at all—do you think about the internet when you're putting together a look?

I don't.

You work with major fashion houses, but you're also known for introducing smaller or unexpected brands into your clients' wardrobes. What makes you stop and pay attention to a new designer?

It's never about who makes it for me, but what it looks and reads like. I always tell clients to take the name out of the look and just focus on how they feel.

Was there a specific job, client, or moment early in your career when you first thought, "Okay, I might actually be good at this"?

I've always known what I'm capable of.

You've expanded beyond styling with Méga, your jewelry line. What made jewelry feel like the natural next step for you creatively?

I've always looked at jewelry as something really sentimental and long-lasting. Jewelry is so meaningful to me and such a way to express your individuality and taste. It's something I'm passionate about always and forever.

You've been open about your love of interior design and styling in the past, saying it's akin to your work with your clients. What is it about interiors that scratches the same creative itch for you as fashion?

Fashion and interiors have always influenced each other for me. Interior design is the exact same art of balancing textures and proportions to create an aesthetic. Both are really an expression of your personal style.

You've described both fashion and interiors as being about finding the right balance of tones, textures, and proportions. Where do you notice those worlds overlapping the most?

I see the most overlap in tone and textures. I think the same colors that I'm drawn to in fashion usually show up in my spaces too. A neutral palette really calms me, and that's so important in my lifestyle.

To you, what makes an exciting and creative home brand, and what ticks those boxes for you when it comes to Lulu and Georgia?

I have loved Lulu and Georgia for years. When I got my office that I work in today, I styled the whole space with Lulu and Georgia pieces, using a big dining table as my work desk, chairs, side tables, and all. Now, I'm so excited about refreshing my own home with pieces from their fall collection. I love how the brand is really a design platform that has such a range of elevated designs and really allows you to make a space your own.

What's the interior equivalent of the perfect white T-shirt or pair of jeans—the piece you think every room needs?

A Diptyque candle and fabulous wood accents. I think every room needs the warmth and texture of wood, new or vintage. Most recently, I've styled the Winston Side Table from Lulu and Georgia's fall collection in my space, and I've been loving the natural striped pattern.

If you had to build an entire room around one Lulu and Georgia piece from the brand's fall collection that you love right now, what would it be?

I love the Hatton scalloped bedding. I think it adds such a pretty, subtle detail to the room without feeling overdone, which is something I often look for in my clothing too. I love when one small touch can change the whole feeling of a space or an outfit.

When you're putting together a room, what's your version of the styling high-low mix? What do you think is worth investing in, and where can you have a little more fun?

Just like with my clothing, I like mixing investment pieces with things that feel of-the-moment. I think you can always mix high-low in the home as long as the fabric and design are elevated and fit the story of the space.

What's the biggest decorating mistake you've made in your own home?

Just being nervous to take a risk. When in doubt, I keep it minimal, and if I'm being more daring, there would be more wallpaper, more metals, just more.

Unintentional clutter that doesn't feel curated or thoughtful. I'm all for more in the home, but only when it feels purposeful and styled.

Fall's imminent return is glaringly obvious to me. Not just because there's suddenly an abundance of back-to-school advertisements and military jackets everywhere the eye can see in New York City, but because I'm already feeling the beauty editor itch to revamp my seasonal skincare routine. Even though the weather isn't quite matching up with long-sleeved styles just yet, everyone seems to be anticipating the return of autumn—though what I'm not looking forward to is the dull state my skin eventually fades into when the sun becomes scarce. But the latest addition to my beauty routine is one that I hoped and prayed would preserve my summer glow as the weather eventually cools off—and after a week of testing, it aced my test early.

"Glowy skin" took some time to gain a stronghold in the beauty community. Ten-plus years ago, everyone and their mother used and abused setting powder until their complexions were overly matte—inspiring phrases like “Flashback Mary” when the under-eyes were too bright and the camera flash too strong. More than anything, we were afraid of looking "oily." My Review

I own a fair share of the internet's favorite glow-enhancing makeup bases, from Rhode's Highlight Milk to L'Oréal's Lumi Glotion. While my plentiful collection offers instant radiance and comforting hydration, I couldn't say that any of these formulas felt truly weightless on my skin. Now and again, a nail trend comes along that is so good, it convinces me to ditch my milky manicure altogether. Style Notes: V-necks have definitely taken a back seat in recent years, overtaken by our love for the crew-neck, but they're having a resurgence for autumn and this time around they're far from boring. Style Notes: The autumn jacket microtrend I’m most interested in this year is the cropped button-up. And no, these aren’t the cropped trenches or big bombers we know and love. This season, they’re far more sculptural: think neat, close-to-the-body silhouettes that sit somewhere between a jacket and a blouse.
